I still think Tina is better at editing than robots
Added 2023-10-31 23:06:02 +0000 UTCThat said, this conversation changes by the month, and I may not be as optimistic on all fronts regarding this stuff as I was even a few weeks ago. The AI revolution is ludicrously fast and hard to nail down. I'm very interested to hear your thoughts on this.
Gracias,

You guys had a good conversation about AI the first time around, but this conversation was much more informed because of Matt's hands-on experience, and your conclusion was just about the place where I'm at with AI. It is best used when you're working on a project where it can see the context of what you've done so far, and it can suggest 1 or 2 pieces to try next. Beyond that, the usefulness of its suggestions declines precipitously. Since at its core it is really just a "suggest the next thing based on what seems to be mathematically likely," it is fairly useless when it doesn't have sufficient context. It isn't actually able to determine what you want, only what other people have already done. It is extremely poor at suggesting things further than a couple of steps out, because of the hyperbolic way its own suggestions affect its next suggestion, and it extrapolates to absurdities. I think AI is a great tool for massively accelerating simple tasks, but the more complexity, ingenuity, and creativity a task requires, the less helpful AI is with it. I'm not worried that AI is going to replace me as a programmer. Thanks so much for sharing your conversations with us! I enjoy listening in.

2023-11-16 14:14:25 +0000 UTCOn the subject of stickers, I would like to point out that you did an episode this year titled “Merkle’s Boner”. You know what to do.

2023-11-11 22:44:56 +0000 UTCI think a Harold Wilberforce sticker would be awesome. Or possibly Barnacles and Testicles sticker would be pretty cool too. I look forward to all the re-enactments, no matter how awkward. lol. Thanks guys for involving your listeners.
2023-11-08 19:26:04 +0000 UTCAs someone who used to edit my own YouTube videos, it drives me up a wall when I accidentally click on a AI generated video. They are so cringy and it hurts my brain. Not only that, but I think in some ways, YouTube shorts has allowed them to circulate more than they should.
