155 - Why Did Julius Caesar Get Shanked (Assassinated)?
Added 2023-04-21 03:41:37 +0000 UTCTurns out Matt knows a lot about ancient Rome. Who knew history could be so fun?
In all seriousness though, I'm starting to feel myself be more and more drawn to history and the humanities, so this is fascinating!!

2023-06-09 18:36:54 +0000 UTCThis was a top ten episode. I really really enjoyed this! Great story, great explanations, and it felt like listening in on an intelligent conversion between friends.
2023-05-04 18:48:28 +0000 UTCI have a coworker who is a huge history fan and actually works at a museum., I talk about the podcast all the time but she listened to this one and the deadsea scroll episode and loved it. Gotta say this is top 5 episodes for me (along with the ones about marriages meaning and siege warfare 😂)
2023-04-25 16:09:57 +0000 UTCGreat episode, I always enjoy an appearance of Barnaclese and Testaclese. However, it might be worth including a content warning about the rather unexpected, mildly sexual content about 12 minutes in. Didn't bother me but was a bit of a blindside for a friend.
2023-04-24 16:47:04 +0000 UTCMatt: Have they ever tried to put a crown on Nick Saban's statue?" Destin you walked right past "THEY PUT A SCAM NEWTON JERSEY ON NICK SABAN!!!"
2023-04-24 12:50:08 +0000 UTCTruly this episode ruled. It made me laugh and ponder the best of big ideas and small details. How small moments in history of people challenging the status quo and norms can ripple in expected and unexpected ways foward in history. It reminded me of my high school music teacher's stories and when I sang latin songs in choir and he taught us about Alea iacta est and history of music pieces we sang. Love being the third chair and learning alongside and also valuing what I remember learning from caring teachers on my life. Thank you!

2023-04-22 01:28:37 +0000 UTCI’m just saying, if a NDQ shirt gets made that has the roman numerals “XXV” and an outline of a donkey, I’ll be immediately buying it.
2023-04-22 00:19:35 +0000 UTCThis gets my vote for one of the best podcast episodes I have listened to. And I have been listening to podcasts since almost the beginning of podcasts. It was entertaining, educational, and elucidating. I have been a patron of Smarter Every Day for a while and after this episode decided to include No Dumb Questions in my Patreon. Thank you for content worth listening to.
2023-04-21 23:11:34 +0000 UTCAwesome episode. This brought back good memories of learning Roman history in my high school Latin classes! There are so many vibrant and rich stories from this part of history. Great showing from our friends Barnaclese and Testiclese as well! Clearly some of the best lawyers in the ancient world.

2023-04-21 14:41:56 +0000 UTCWell that was an absolute delight. Can I just tell you how fun it is to hear Matt just absolutely geek out and deep give into this stuff? And I'm genuinely impressed at Destin's recollection of some of these things. Love episodes like this, thank you both so much!
2023-04-21 12:58:57 +0000 UTCJust want to let you know how excited I get to see a new episode post!
