Won Young was wrongly fired and therefore, wouldn't have been able to get a reference for a new job. When he met him for the first time, he was essentially fighting to save his career. He obviously should have been honest later on in their relationship but the situation was still the same. I know in seems less significant in a BL series but in reality, most people need a job to get by in life.
