Huh. That's still only sixty grand a year - a lower-middle-class income. But Herman grew up dirt poor, so I guess that's still more money than he's used to.

well, if you go by the footnote (United Species Dollar worth about twice United States Dollar) and your estimated inflation value of 2k to 5k, then he'd be getting $10k per month in real world value. That would very much explain his reaction to that kind of payday.
