This could be interesting to see finished. I am already intrigued to see more, and as others have said Happy Endings aren't always needed. (Though I do prefer them myself, heh.)

That's not always a bad thing if there is a moral to be shared, a true story to be told, etc. Not every story should end happy... of course, usually means the masses using the story as an escape from their 'unhappy apparent endings in store for them' don't like unhappy endings.
