"Alright, open your textbooks." Sawada's voice carried easily across the classroom. "Today we're diving into something practical. How do ninja prevent and resist unknown risks when executing missions in the wild?"
The familiar rustle of pages filled the air as students flipped through their books. Sawada nodded approvingly and launched into his lesson.
He'd learned something over these months of teaching. Sure, textbook knowledge mattered. But what really grabbed their attention? Stories. Real experiences from actual missions, woven together and presented like adventures they might face themselves.
That's why his students actually listened instead of daydreaming about lunch.
As he spoke, Sawada gestured to emphasize key points. "Remember what happened to Team Seven during the Land of Waves mission? They weren't prepared for the level of resistance they encountered."
Several hands shot up with eager questions.
The class bell's sharp ring cut through their discussion. Sawada closed his textbook with a satisfied smile.
"Today's homework..." He paused, watching them brace for impact. "Use your imagination. Think about what you believe needs attention during wild missions."
"But sensei..." Sakura started.
"Must be content not covered in the textbook. Nothing I've taught today either." His smile turned slightly wicked. "No word limit, but don't you dare make things up."
A collective groan rippled through the classroom.
"Yes, Sensei!" they chorused, though their enthusiasm had definitely dimmed.
Sawada chuckled. Over the past months, he'd trained them well. At least now they actually thought instead of just memorizing textbook passages like parrots.
"Class dismissed."
He turned and headed for his office, already thinking about his afternoon plans.
[Teaching Rating: S]
[Rewards: Chakra +800, Purification Potion (Red)]
Sawada stopped dead in the corridor.
Besides the usual chakra boost, something new had appeared. He'd figured out the secret to earning chakra rewards. Just emphasize chakra's importance during lessons, and boom. Fifty-fifty chance of success. Pretty decent odds.
But this purification potion? That was completely new territory.
Students streamed past him, chattering about weekend plans. He picked up his pace, eager to examine this mysterious reward in private.
Back in his office, Sawada pulled out the small red vial. The liquid inside seemed to glow with its own inner light.
"Purification potion..." he murmured.
The system's information panel materialized before his eyes:
[Purification Potion (Red): Acts on organ-type Kekkei Genkai.]
The description below made his breath catch.
Purifies bloodline, with a certain probability of achieving bloodline reversion.
Now that was interesting. If used properly, this little bottle could change everything.
In the ninja world, "bloodline reversion" wasn't some shameful thing. Quite the opposite, actually. Most clans were descendants of the Otsutsuki, their bloodlines diluted over generations of time and migration.
Hell, look around Konoha. Half the families had declined because their bloodlines had grown too thin.
The Senju Clan? Bunch of ordinary people now. Barely qualified to be ninja.
The Uzumaki? A few scattered descendants, that's all.
Sawada drummed his fingers on the desk, thinking hard.
Who should get it?
For organ-type kekkei genkai, he really only had two options. Hinata and Sasuke.
Neji didn't need it anymore. That perfect-grade reward, "Hamura's Blessing," would eventually let his Byakugan achieve reversion naturally.
After some consideration, Sawada made his choice. Sasuke.
He wanted to see something. If the potion worked, maybe Sasuke could break through to Mangekyou Sharingan without the usual... harsh requirements.
Sawada had no interest in watching future Sasuke unlock Mangekyou by losing someone he cared about. Not if he could prevent it.
Decision made. He pocketed the potion and grabbed his things.
Time to handle other business.
"Iruka's idea from this morning," Sawada said, settling into the chair across from Hiruzen Sarutobi's desk.
The Third Hokage nodded, pipe smoke curling around his weathered features. "I like it. Challenging to implement, but worthwhile."
"Any thoughts?" Hiruzen's eyes crinkled slightly. His student had probably already worked out a plan.
"Iruka's approach works, but it needs more depth." Sawada leaned forward. "We need ninja experiences from people without genius reputations. Those who started ordinary but became successful chunin then lived better lives than the so-called prodigies."
The old man nodded slowly.
"Genius" had never been a kind word in their world. Definitely not something to hold up as an example for most students.
Better to showcase those who'd taken steady steps upward. Ordinary ninja who'd become Special Jonin or full Jonin through persistence and smart choices.
That's the path most students should follow anyway.
"Do you have candidates in mind?" Hiruzen asked.
"The Fourth Hokage's guards. Gekko Hayate. Others like them." Sawada had given this real thought.
"Most of the Fourth Hokage's guards were grown-up civilians. They were only chunin when selected, but look how they developed afterward."
Hiruzen exhaled another stream of smoke. "I'll order them to cooperate using their free time."
"Thank you, sensei."
This couldn't be rushed. Organizing everyone would take time, and they'd need to test the approach with this batch of students first. Modify problems as they discovered them.
"Oh." Hiruzen seemed to remember something. "Jiraiya's already left the village."
Sawada wasn't surprised. Jiraiya couldn't sit still for long.
"I sent him to find Tsunade." The Third's smile held a hint of mischief.
Sawada smiled back. His suggestion had worked perfectly.
If he'd told Jiraiya directly to avoid Hidden Rain Village, the man would've gotten suspicious. Curious. But give him a mission from the Hokage? Especially one involving Tsunade?
Jiraiya would set aside everything else to complete it. And Tsunade was definitely someone he cared about.
Hiruzen hadn't asked for explanations, just agreed to the plan. Sometimes the old man's trust was both reassuring and slightly unnerving.
"One more thing." Hiruzen shuffled through papers on his desk. "The next Chunin Exam. Hidden Cloud Village sent invitations."
"They've invited Iwagakure, us, plus several smaller villages. Cloud's covering all expenses, and both the Fire and Lightning daimyo have agreed."
Sawada raised an eyebrow. That was... unexpected timing.
