We're currently working on a new Half in the Bag episode that we're calling our "Halloween Hangover" episode, basically catching up on some of the October horror movie releases as well as discussing the fact that October 2025 was the worst October Box Office in about 30 years! There were a lot of horror movies released in October too but nearly every one of them was a bust. In addition to that, we're planning a Best of the Worst spotlight episode for a movie that almost made it into the lineup for the Halloween episode, but it was decided the movie would make everyone too miserable and ruin the day. So it'll be more of a blacklight episode than a spotlight. Winter is upon us, so I guess it's time to get miserable!

2025-11-12 06:52:35 +0000 UTCNo but seriously, we are skidding along the edge of adding theatrical films to the list of 'walking dead' art forms: arts that, by market logic and popularity, should not exist but which limp along supported by arts grants, rich people, corporate philanthropy, tax exemptions and universities. Stage plays, ballet, opera, poetry, jazz music, literary novels, sculpture, etc. Supposedly this was also a terrible year for major Broadway musicals. They now rival major movies for cost to produce and at least four big ones flopped and closed. Really I can't help but think everything's been going downhill since we stopped painting mammoths on cave walls and naked people having sex on wine jars.

2025-11-11 23:24:49 +0000 UTCI can't remember the last movie I saw in a theater. ("Boy and the Heron" maybe? That's not bad, at least it's better than the 18 months I went knowing that if I were to die, the last film I saw would have been "Rise of Skywalker").
