Stuff We're Working On (Feb 2025)

Hey everyone! If you remember our Salt Vampire video from last year, we received a mystery reel of Star Trek TOS film and we mentioned that we were going to get it scanned and see what's on it. Well, we're finally getting the scanned footage back soon! It may turn out to be anticlimactic and just a reference print from some random TOS episode but we'll see!

Also Star Trek related, we're almost done with our project to mount a screen-used control panel (we posted a behind the scenes video about getting the prop here on Patreon a while back).

And lasty, we're currently editing a re:View episode about the 1997 thriller Breakdown starring Kurt Russell. It lead to a larger discussion about "forgotten" 90s movies, which is a topic we may elaborate on more in future re:View episodes.

I went back and looked at a few of the old RLM videos when he died. There is some good stuff already out there if you need a fix. :) Eraserhead, I think three Twin Peaks videos, Dune. Probably a good four hours or so.

Michael Matzat

This was a fun watch. I had the chance to see it a few days early at a festival that advertised it as "go in knowing as little as possible" and that made it even more fun. Not sure if it's a movie to remember and rewatch time and time again, but for what it was trying to be it was a 9,9/10 and everyone left the room with a big grin. There was some other horror film in January that got some praise, did not see it and forgot the name.

A mystery TOS reel, intriguing!

Marvin Falz

Fingers crossed for a Companion review

Goldy Loxx

Gosh darn autocorrect. Still a good movie though

TheSingingBush

Sorry, $15 per month is kind of a No. I do hope Rich enjoys having a house on his head, though. He could use the income.

Beckoning Chasm

I'd love to see some type of special episode about David Lynch or one of his works some day if you're ever up to it.

Paul Vidal

First of all I want to say RIP David Lynch. I know how much Jay looked up to the man. He was a brilliant artist and an even better human being. Second, I’d like to say if you guys haven’t yet seen it, check out A Different Man starring Sebastian Stan. It was also shot on 16 mm. I think it’s right up your alley. I could absolutely see the film being a Mike & Jay talk about. It is a fantastic weird little movie with a great performance from Stan. Lastly, keep up the good work fellas. I’ve been watching your videos for years and you have all turned me onto some really amazing films. You are the best film reviewers in the business.

Jay Benton

Would love for the Action Boyz to visit for some forgotten Action movies

Kyle O'Connor

I confuse Mike with Uhura constantly.

Amanda Thompson

Breakdown is such an underrated movie! I remember catching it on TV when I was a kid, and I loved the mistery in the story. Not sure I ever really saw it again after that, but it stuck with me. Can't wait for this episode.

RedVIII

Ditto! If it’s a lost TOS episode, I hope that Mike and Rich dub it New York Ninja style

Peter L

Hudsucker Proxy!

Lee Noble

Villainous Donald Sutherland is terrifying!

Dendo Star

Outbreak is a gem. Definitely a guilty pleasure you “silly sentimental son of a bitch” no one could annunciate like Donald Sutherland

Jordan C Farrell

Can’t wait for the re-break-view-down

Jordan C Farrell

i haven't watched it in....wow...decades now, but I still have a soft spot for Spawn. I think it's because I have a i'm totally not gay man crush on Michael Jai White.

casey

Breakdown is a good movie. After the nightmarish CGI shit festivals of the likes of Spawn, Independence Day, and Species, it was nice to have something much more simple and scaled back.

Rick Drake

Outbreak, Stay Tuned, lol and plenty more.

Dendo Star

Breakdown was filmed in the town I grew up in (Victorville, CA). I remember my older brother and his friends knocked on Kurt Russell’s trailer and saw him peek out all annoyed.

THE_GnomeChomskee

I'm pretty sure I saw that in the theater...1997...kurt russel. Yeah, almost for sure.

BoB3k

That's awesome! My BF and I discovered Breakdown last year and agreed that it was an awesome movie and were both surprised we hadn't heard of it before.

cynthia

The '90s had a lot of solid thrillers and 'Breakdown' is one of the better ones.

DonMac

Get well soon my dude!

Neil Peart, Lord of Drums

Breakdown, cool. How about Shakedown for botw?

Garry Shambling

Hats Off just started a similar series, it would be cool to have them show up at some point. Who knows. They go on Colin from Canada's podcast with Justin Decloux

Syd Beretta

Will there be a David Lynch video I wonder! Seeing mike post being forced by jay to watch the entire lynch filmography would be interesting

unusualGuy

"Forgotten" 90s movies would make for great episodes. I loved that decade.

Big Daddy H

Yoooooo let's go. Breakdown is so damn good.

John Dee

Would love to hear you gab about Arlington Road……..

sooty_mosquito

Really enjoy the prop preservation stuff you guys post. February is a tough stretch, thanks for all the content.

JTruts

I haven't seen that film, maybe I'll give it a watch before your video comes out. By the way, ever consider doing a Re:View on *Tombstone*? That's one of my favorite films.

Nada Leona Sheppard

I'll join you

JTruts

So weird! I watched Breakdown last week for the first time ever! 😄 Enjoyable movie!

Philip Wolfe

I broke my hip you bastards and your entertainment got me thru the hospital, thank you kindly

Aaron Cabe

Everything you just said gave me enough hope to keep living another month, thank you.

phantos

Not until we get more TNG season reviews.

Brian Straight

Exciting times!!

Corpo_Canine

Breakdown is one of those 90's movies I like to rewatch on a semi-regular basis. That and Falling Down. Those two movies are always connected in my head. Maybe it's because of the similar title.

GirouxFan

Nothing beats watching RLM while drinking alone

Dylan

‘ta fuck you doin up this early on a Saturday? Go back to bed

Frazzled Doo

Star Trek RLM content is the perfect Valentine's Day present!

Amanda Thompson

Fixed!

Red Letter Media

Hell yeah! Loved breakdown, such a great screenplay.

FilthyPenguins

I love updates from last year!

Bill Lehecka

Love Breakdown. Remember seeing it in the theater with my parents. Also, just started a TNG watch through, as I finally got the last two seasons I needed on Blu-ray. Can’t wait for the upcoming videos!

Ian Collins

My favorite forgotten film is The Batman, personally.
