I appreciate Jay admitting the Large Marge scene scared him as a kid. That scene scared me so much as a kid I was half terrified the rest of the movie.

All right yeah.. bill McClintock YouTube takes songs and does mashups overlays/plays song’s normally not connected by genres.. Dark side of the moon played while watching the 1978 classic ‘The Wiz’ you know.. ..

Frazzled Doo

Some women raised kids alone and needed something or someone to give them support not found locally. It may not have been best, but that’s the missed point.. making best of a Tough situation mattered to single moms..and their Kids

Frazzled Doo

Frazzled Doo

Yeah Yeah yeah.. Maclay Calkin ffs it’s Paul Ruebensandwich menu special.. even Maclay gets it .. you fucks. Loved the entertainment btw. Love your works.

Frazzled Doo

Absolutely. Besides Star Trek and Star Wars, it’s the next most referenced movie. :Queue pottery break sound:

Eric Anderson

What a lovely review! So happy they mentioned the open matte “errors” on the vhs version (the bike chain, and road signs pulled by ropes). I always thought those were intentional until I saw it on dvd in the proper aspect ratio.

Eric Anderson

I had completely forgotten about the Headlight Glasses scene, but I remembered laughing so hard the first time I saw the movie.

Brian E. Lindstrand

Mr. McCulkin!

Brian E. Lindstrand

I showed my kids this a few years back when they were just about to go into middle school, they loved it.

JTruts

Nothing will take BotW from my favorite series you do, but re:View I think has now secured the second place spot after this genuinely great heartfelt episode. It's so nice to watch you guys talk about something you truly enjoy, and Mac is always a bonus. Hopefully Tim or maybe Jack will detrone him as Junka champion...

JTruts

Nukie laserdiscs? Or maybe they have received a bunch more VHS since the destruction video? Or home alone 3....

JTruts

After having watched this re:View I want to watch Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Looks like a lot of fun!

Marvin Falz

Speaking of comedies you reference all the time and is overdue a re:View :: Wet Hot American Summer

Back To You

Off topic sort of. I’d love to see a Re:View of “Back to the Future”. Just part 1. This is a film i’d love to show to my kids someday. A perfect film (like Pee Wee) that didn’t need a sequel.

Mike St Louis

I’m with Jay. The Headlight Glasses bit in the dark is probably one of my favorite scenes ever. The “I remember the Alamo” is a close second. Excellent film. Tim Burton’s best.

Mike St Louis

What will replace the Nukie tapes?

The Real Zam

One of my favorite movies as a kid that had a huge impact on me as well

Matt Herlihy

This 1985 and Little Shop of Horrors 1986 had such an impact on me as far as comedy and fantasy world building it was great to see Re:Views for both back to back like this.

Kim Luu

Only about 8 minutes before Mike goes to Star Wars. Bravo.

andrew

Re: Murphy Brown, if the reboot had any courage, they would have acknowledged that Quayle was right and her fictional son would have been better off with two parents! (My alternate pitch was that they should’ve done it like “The Brady Bunch Movie” she still acts like it’s the 90s (Big hair! Comically large cell phones! Quayle jokes!) but somehow thrives in modern times…

Daniel Frank

"Star Wars" with a John Carpenter score sounds amazing to me...

Manuel Johnen

Regarding Big Top PeeWee, the problem with it is a problem with comedies set in a circus (I’m thinking of the Marx Brothers’ “At the Circus”: Circuses are already filled with strange, zany people; there’s no contrast between our zany protagonist(s) and circus folk. (As opposed to, say, an opera company.)

Daniel Frank

Some thing tells me there’s a Junka rematch incoming…

AM

Like Mike, I also thought Jan Hooks died just a couple of years ago, so I looked her up. Turns out she passed away in 2014. Mike might have been thinking of John Paragon, who played Jambi in Pee Wee's Playhouse and was one of the movie lot actors in Pee Wee's Big Adventure. He died in 2021.

Jeremy Ross

FOOT-LONG: Genius edit.

Tim Harrod

Mac is back! Great video, guys.

AllGoodNamesRGone

Mack is back! Nice!

schopi

Thanks, now I want Star Wars with a John Carpenter score to be a real thing.

DamienC

Yowza. What timing, with Pee-Wee now on his biggest adventure of all. RIP
