Mike and Jay Talk About Cobweb

Mike and Jay Talk About Cobweb

I found myself wishing the Background Baby Binks would end up in a different (and preferably compromising) position for every wide shot.

The Real Zam

What I enjoyed most about the film was that, once we had established the unreliable child POV, the narrative seemed to be sculpted by someone who knew at least as much about the "thing in the walls" genre as I do. Many films end up being a "guess the real ending" game along the way, but here I felt in the presence of a magician who could riff and play at the plethora of possibilities (at one point, I was wondering if we had a Twilight Zone "The Howling Man" situation where the parents were actually good, but unworldly - the hints were there, but - AHA! - misdirection!) Haunting, external manifestation of trauma, Thing In the Wall, demonic possession, demonic capture, Halloween sacrifice, etc. So many story possibilities in under 90 minutes.

In defense of releasing the movie when they did, for the longest time Barbie had terrible tracking. People heard of it but weren't interested in seeing it which is the worst. It was probably why they did the trailer of "If you love Barbie... If you hate Barbie..."

It says a lot when both Mike and Jay strongly endorse a film. Interestingly, Mike was a bigger fan of Cobweb than Jay. Jay's the weird horror and cult movie guy, and that's why we love him. But Mike endorsing this horror film means a lot as he isn't as big a fan of those types of films as Jay.

What’s “VUDU”? Please, just give me the spoilers and save me the time. Thanks.

I remembered Dream House. This is a rare occasion where Mike & Jay recommend a film that turns out to be GARBAGE. But I’m grateful for the YouTube content all the same.

hamish smith

Did Vitaly Versace send Jay that coffee mug?

The Real Zam

Well, I know what I'm watching tonight

AllGoodNamesRGone

It's always so nice to see you review a film you enjoy.

'It's in the execution.' - There's a chapter in Blonde (by Joyce Carol Oates) where Marilyn Monroe experiences a nightmarish dream-like situation, then she's awakend from this state by a voice that tells her to go back to the movie shoot. This could be called an over-used trope but it works well in the book and I can picture that working as well in a movie. (I just read that chapter, so it's a nice coincidence.)

Marvin Falz

I'll just watch it after I've seen it.

James Fraser-Shelley

Then don't watch the video. They liked the movie, that's all you need to know.

Manuel Johnen

Are there spoilers for this. I'm going to see it in a couple of weeks.

James Fraser-Shelley

"Dream House".

Alison Ludwig

As always, read the high-larious description of the video.

Daniel Frank
