Robocop 2 - re:View

Robocop 2 - re:View

Comments

Mike's pitch for ROBOCOP 2 sounds much cooler than the actual film was. Also, Colin was 100% correct, the score was quite lame and PREDATOR 2 is an awesome movie!.

Brian E. Lindstrand

What’s the music during the “beat for beat” montage?

A F

Of course. It was a show produced in his Mother Country.

Jimmy Rode

Excellent comparison.

Silentphil9

Yes not using the Robocop theme was a major error. It's like if they didn't use the Indiana Jones theme in Temple of Doom. Just silly.

Josh Wright

42:21 “are we the baddies?” Mitchel&Web?

Frazzled Doo

The thing in "Robocop 2" that always stands out to me is how the Nuke drugs are in standard eye drop containers, just with red liquid instead of clear. And when they pretend to inject it in the neck, it looks to me like they're doing it wrong by not dripping it into the eyes.

DonMac

Yet Robowoman’s face is clear as day…

Stan Jonathan Keller

We could really use a RoboCop in Los Angeles…and Portland…and Seattle…and New York…definitely in Chicago…but we are all good in Bismarck.

Stan Jonathan Keller

"He went as the Detroit mayor for Halloween." 😂

Marvin Falz

Agreed, I feel like for the joke they leaned into the censoring here, but dang it was pretty extreme for this video.

Mr Moxie

I'm sure this has been asked before, but is there any way we could get uncensored videos on the Patreon? I understand needing to comply with youtube regulations, but censoring something like robocop is just painful. It's like watching Riker cook scrambled eggs.

MeleeDuck

I didn’t realize Irvin Kershner directed Robocop 2. If you’re gonna pick a director for a sequel, can’t go wrong with that guy. Worked out pretty dang well for Star Wars.

Eric Anderson

Mike casually ignores the existence of “Into Darkness.” Well done.

andrew

I would say it was a good sequel to one of the greatest movies ever made. Music aside, ROBOCOP 3 was mediocre, except for the one brief scene with Murphy flying in a jetpack.

Timothy Liebe

Looking forward to watching this re: View. Haven't seen Robocop 2 in many years. FYI it's on Tubi for free here: Watch Robocop 2 on Tubi: https://link.tubi.tv/BMnNPY2vsCb

Michael Cooper

Great stuff, guys. Just a big thank you for all the laughs and entertainment you've brought into our lives.

AllGoodNamesRGone

I really appreciate Colin showing respect for Phil Tippett several times in this. Would love to see a re:View of Mad God, probably as part of the "least viewed episode" sub-series.

Casual Kaiju

I think you’re correct; I’m pretty sure Phil Tippet said exactly that during a documentary I watched a few years back.

James Briscoe

There are probably around 100 people commenting the same thing, but I don't have time to check. I think Phil Tippett gave an intricate design to Robocop 2 as a deterrent for people to create knock off toys, like they did with ED 209, although they still managed to do it. Also another thing there might be thousands of comments saying the same thing at this point, Robocop can run or walk a little faster, as demonstrated in the first movie when dodging the truck that crushes into the toxic waste container.

Juan Calvo

I remember I once went to a screening of The 400 Blows and I was the only one that showed up in a Robocop costume. It was embarrassing.

rachel

Absolutely classic Mike video description that no one reads. He seems to save all his thoughts that “normal” people post on social media and hides them in the last place people would think to cancel him. I’m onto you though and my letter of intent to sue will be forthcoming once I figure out how to upload a YouTube video.

Banta

Always hated the star trek 4 score, one of reasons it's my least favourite of the original moobies, I think the composer was a day time TV composer

Tomas

I discovered those existed a couple years back. Most people know about the movies, some know about the show, few know about the cartoon... But nothing has you prepared for Robert Cop the mini series. It is to Robocop what Dull Blade is to Blade.

Bill Wilson

42:58 was that a slow mouseclick to add some oomph to Mike's soundeffects? 😄

Joan Scott Brockie

To You!

ressuiii

I remember I liked "Robocop 2" on its original theatrical release. And then I saw it again a decade later on DVD and instantly regretted buying it, asking myself "why did I think this was good?" Two decades later, watching it a third time pre this re:view, I like it a bit better now.

DonMac

Okay, I won't...

Manuel Johnen

Oh God. Don't talk about the mini-series.

Silentphil9

Happy Birthday!

Manuel Johnen

On my birthday!

Clayton Henderson

So, Mike is really into designer drugs, it seems...

Manuel Johnen

By the way, Colin's right, Poledouris' great score is vital to the franchise... say about "RoboCop 3" what you want, but at least it got THAT right... edit: The score from "RoboCop 2" is not quite as terrible as the spaghetti western music they did fot the "Prime Directives" mini series later, though...

Manuel Johnen

I'm looking forward to watching this. I wonder if these gentlemen were as freaked at as I was when seeing the montage of prototype failures.

John Kott

Inject it into my veins. Or was that Robocop 3?

Lee Noble

Finally... the re:View for a mediocre sequel to one of the greatest movies ever made... <3

Manuel Johnen

Still only memory of this movie is not even my memory. It’s of my late father taking me big brother to see this movie when he was like five or 6 years old lol!! Then my mom not evening knowing or remembering him doing that lol Side note: not sure I should mention this or not with the risk of him seeing it but since I’m having a shit Monday and it’s only 8am I’m gonna just do it. I had a very suggestible dream about Jay last night that let’s just say made me wake up very happily. So I miss the sex pervert lol!!
