Half in the Bag: Fool's Paradise and The Corporate Product Biopic Trend

The irony of the Tetris Biopic movie is that the producer, Lawrence Kasanoff, didn't wanna make a biopic... He wanted and still wants btw, to make a Tetris Movie Trilogy... He has gone on record saying, "It will be the next Lord of the Rings Trilogy". Lawrence Kasanoff btw is responsible for Mortal Kombat 1995... but also it's sequel... and he's responsible for Foodfight, a movie he is quoted as saying, "would be the next Toy Story" and the studio behind Foodfight, Explosm, would be the "next Pixar".

Their track record with "real" movies is not that great... :P

I coasted off RedLetter Media for many years. They helped me through my divorce and I leached off them psychically for many years. When I got myself back on my feet, I thought I would give back and joined Patreon at the $15 level. This was great for a few years, but then I was downsized so I dropped to the $5 level. I still feel a great connection to RLM, but I'm starting to feel that they don't really want to do this anymore. I'll stick with the $5 level out of gratitude and loyalty. But I would like to see a real movie once in awhile.

After listening to a fair bit of the Always Sunny podcast I think this movie is just stale commentary rather than self-aware meta-satire. Charlie comes across as both very critical of the Hollywood machine and endearingly guileless a lot of the time. I think he just wanted to make a movie about what he has been experiencing and it didn't feel stale to him because he encounters it every day. Also as an avid Always Sunny fan their big swing episodes almost always flop with fans but they don't care because THEY like them.

God bless all of you, but especially Rich Evans, for unique brand of madness.

Half in the Bag is Red Letter Media at its BEST!!!!!

The Apple Tetris movie is good, but a bit overdramatic. However, it DID get me to watch the much better Gaming Historian documentary on YouTube. I strongly recommend it!

Came here to mention ‘Being There’ as a recommendation for those wanting to see a good version of this type of premise. Glad to see it being brought up!

Before this, I was gonna ask you guys if you've seen Air directed by Ben Affleck starring Ben Affleck's penis Matt Damon. Thanks for the in-depth review of not Air, Jay! Get a fucking haircut!
