#3 is NOT pretty good.. people need to stop overpraising that one, it's the same mediocre garbage as the other sequels up to part 6. "Wes Craven's New Nightmare" is where it's at...!

2023-03-01 17:28:11 +0000 UTCOh man, I can't wait to hear what you guys have to say about the franchise. My wife and I just re-watched the whole series and the experience broke my heart. I had a hunch how it would go but I didn't want to admit it to myself definitively before going through all the movies again and giving each movie a fair reassessment. Oh boy. Freddy is a great character in almost exclusively mediocre to pretty bad movies. I don't think any other horror icon had anywhere near Freddy's potential. A good scene here and a fun one-liner there just isn't enough. If anything it just gives you a tiniest of taste of what could have been. #1's fantastic, #3's pretty good and the Vs. movie is fun. Out of nine movies? What a waste. The concept and look are so damn strong. I understand being creative with Jason or Myers is tricky but struggling to come up with entertaining and/or truly terrifying material for Freddy shouldn't be too hard, right?
