Shooting Stuff
Added 2020-03-11 23:31:20 +0000 UTCHey everyone. Today we shot a new Half in the Bag. It's a little different than usual since the episode is about Blumhouse and what a weird company they are. We selected three of their direct-to-Hulu movies from their Into the Dark series that you didn't even know existed and watched and discussed those, as well as the company as a whole. We're also shooting a new Picard video this week, and we've been filming some behind the scenes footage for another mini-documentary about Rich's latest construction project (the last time we did this was for the new Best of the Worst discussion table...you can find that video here on our Patreon).
Comments
The video quality on this episode was really stellar, did you change something recently?

2020-03-17 19:14:57 +0000 UTCNo, you're right. Seeing as the last "Halloween" cost about ten million to make and grossed 270 million worldwide (and even crap like "The Nun" makes 350 millions), I'm speechless the big studios don't cut down heavily on production costs... hell, even the last "Saw" movie still made 100 million and delivered a nice profit! :/

2020-03-14 09:18:15 +0000 UTCAfter Picard i don't even feel like watching anything. Its ruined my ability to watch shows and movies and I'm not exaggerating at all.

2020-03-13 15:09:40 +0000 UTCI'm not really a horror fan, but Blumhouse seems like the future of Hollywood to me, they need to start going small/low budget, the current Avengers Endgame model of everything must be the most epic (and expensive!!) movie ever does not seem sustainable at all - a movie like Solo which by any metric should have been a huge hit, becomes a bomb because the budget was so out of control after the reshoots. Going into the 2020s, as a generation that grew up with Youtube as their main source of media, I feel like smaller is the way to go. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it

2020-03-13 12:31:01 +0000 UTCThere has been lots of good Star Trek, and some bad, but Picard is the first time I've felt actual embarrassment for the people involved, quality actors like Allison Pill, and poor Jeri Ryan and Hugh Borg who have had their characters horribly ruined. To the writers and Patrick Stewart I just feel shame, or at least thats what they should feel.

2020-03-13 12:29:08 +0000 UTCPicard is like going to the dentist for a deep cleaning for me. You cringe at something about every 30 seconds, and then tell them it was fine afterward and come back for the next scheduled appointment.

2020-03-13 08:49:56 +0000 UTCLove u guys!

2020-03-12 20:42:27 +0000 UTCHow dare you!? I've been Into the Dark since there were only three episodes.

2020-03-12 20:18:59 +0000 UTCCurrently in season 2 of TNG, and so far I like what I see. I like that TNG is different from TOS, which I still prefer, but whatever. TNG Picard is great. But even though, I find nothing appealing enough in Star Trek: Picard to make me watch that show, I'm looking forward to another re:view on it.

2020-03-12 18:47:38 +0000 UTCI saw the first episode of into the dark because it was free on amazon a few weeks back. I enjoyed it but never bothered in buying the rest because there is just to many StarTreck reviews on red letter media consuming all my free time. (also to much contend in general on the web and in the world)

2020-03-12 16:28:52 +0000 UTCThat trailer looks rather great, I think,...? :/

2020-03-12 15:17:14 +0000 UTCFinally talking about Blumhouse. I thought they couldn’t be dumber after Truth or Dare, but then I saw the trailer for The Invisible Man...
Rita Karasz
2020-03-12 14:44:30 +0000 UTCYes! I watch the Into The Dark movies, and while some of them have been good, the majority have been *big* stinkers. I can’t wait to hear your opinions.

2020-03-12 14:09:34 +0000 UTCThe problem is with a movie that is good or even great (I haven't seen Jojo) there isnt much to talk about, other than "yeah its good"
Josan
2020-03-12 11:03:13 +0000 UTCSaw Jojo Rabbit yesterday. Awesome. Why not make a Half in the Bag of that movie?

2020-03-12 09:34:25 +0000 UTCWow, another Picard episode? And I really need to find the construction video.

2020-03-12 09:31:51 +0000 UTCThe Picard videos are the best!
Peter Miller
2020-03-12 05:10:03 +0000 UTCI really enjoyed that too. I think when it comes to bad movies that are not the fun kind of bad, they should do experimental stuff like you mentioned taking shifts to watch the same movie or watch all 3 transformer movies at the same time. I love that creativity.

2020-03-12 04:35:21 +0000 UTCEngage..................MURDER!!

2020-03-12 04:30:45 +0000 UTCEnough with the Picard videos!
Chris
2020-03-12 04:26:01 +0000 UTCDifferent is good. Remember that time Mike and Jay watched some garbage movie in shifts and then compared what they thought? We need more weird, experimental stuff like that.
margrave86
2020-03-12 02:26:06 +0000 UTCTell us the movies so we can watch them and be prepared!

2020-03-12 01:46:58 +0000 UTCExcitement! Also, please stop hurting yourself with non-Trek.

2020-03-12 00:44:09 +0000 UTCThey're probably terrified to go to a theater at the moment. I bet we get it on one of the Catch-Up episodes later in the year.
2020-03-12 00:18:09 +0000 UTC(Insert generic joke with Rich Evans and COVID-19 as components).
2020-03-12 00:14:27 +0000 UTCSuper-genius Rich Evans making the new BoTW table is my favorite Patreon video. It's from March of 2019 for anyone who wants to find it. Fascinating stuff! Also... why must Mike continue to torture Rich with more Picard? Poor bastard.

2020-03-11 23:56:33 +0000 UTCThank goodness you will be covering more Star Trek: Dumpsterfire. I've rewatched every re:view ; it's like Mr. Plinkett split in half and lives through Mike and Rich.

2020-03-11 23:50:15 +0000 UTCAny sign of that Freaked re:View you guys mentioned a few weeks back?

2020-03-11 23:44:10 +0000 UTCBlumhouse. When they're good, they're great, but they're so inconsistent that it's hard to keep up
Darren Broadbent
2020-03-11 23:40:36 +0000 UTCBlumhouse is as all over the place as a production company can be. Can't wait.
Connor Martin
2020-03-11 23:38:15 +0000 UTCNo Invisible Man? 😔

2020-03-11 23:37:45 +0000 UTCInteresting. I’ve found the Into The Dark series of films to be at least watchable and enjoyable for the most part. I was glad to see Hulu stick with it since it gave me Masters of Horror vibes when it was announced.

2020-03-11 23:34:17 +0000 UTCRedLetterMedia is my escape from the pandemic horseshit going on. Rich Evans' laugh will be bottles and sold as a cure for the Coronavirus.

2020-03-11 23:34:10 +0000 UTCYou know, this episode reminds me of an episode of star trek.

2020-03-11 23:34:08 +0000 UTCWill you guys do a Star Wars prequel vs sequel trilogy video?
