Great reaction Tim! Huge thanks to the Patron who recommended this movie to you! This is one of my favorite musicals! As it was already mentioned, this musical won the Best Picture Oscar for 1968. It even got a Best Actor nomination for Ron Moody who played Fagin and a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Jack Wild who played Dodger. The little boy who played Oliver was friends with Michael Jackson! You may have seen Oliver Reed who played Bill Sikes in GLADIATOR (2000) with Russell Crowe. He played the old guy who owned all those gladiators. Carol Reed, the director of this film, is also the uncle of Oliver Reed. Well, thanks for a great reaction Tim! 😊

The overture was to give the audience a chance to make it to their seats while hearing music themes that would be in the film. While Intermission was usually the halfway point of the film to give the audience a chance to stand up, head to the concession stand, bathroom, etc before the second half started. Then entr'acte was played as the audience made their was back to their seats. You'll find all or most of this in films like Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur, My Fair Lady, Happiest Millionaire, etc. Plus you saw a couple with this already with Hello, Dolly and The Sound of Music.
