Gentle farmer Arthur Hoggett (James Cromwell) wins a piglet named Babe (Christine Cavanaugh) at a county fair. Narrowly escaping his fate as Christmas dinner when Farmer Hoggett decides to show him at the next fair, Babe bonds with motherly border collie Fly (Miriam Margolyes) and discovers that he too can herd sheep. But will the other farm animals, including Fly's jealous husband Rex, accept a pig who doesn't conform to the farm's social hierarchy?

2025-03-11 15:52:34 +0000 UTCThis amazing film was nominated for multiple Academy Award while it won for Best Visual Effects it lost everything else including Best Picture to Braveheart (it didn't deserve it) and Best Supporting Actor for Jamss Cromwell losing to Kevin Spacey for The Usual Suspects. Cromwell was already a vegetarian and this film made him a vegan. If the voice of Babe sounds familiar that is Chrstine Cavanaugh who was Chucky in Rugrats and Dexter in Dexter's Labratory. The visual effects to make fhe animals talk was a combination of real animals, animatronics, and cgi. This is one of those rare instances I recommend watching the sequel Babe Pig in the City.
