Once Upon A Time SEASON 3 EPISODE 1 FULL LENGTH REACTION

Time to check out ONCE UPON A TIME Season 3 Episode 1.

"Once Upon a Time" tells the story of a new world, one in which fairy-tale legends and modern life collide. Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) is comfortable in her life as a bail bonds collector when Henry -- the child she gave up a decade earlier -- suddenly shows up. He is convinced that she is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, who sent her away before the Evil Queen could cast a spell, freezing the fairytale world in time and bringing them to present-day Storybrooke, Maine. After taking Henry home, Emma decides to stay in the town to keep an eye on him, and she discovers he may not be wrong after all.

The Heart of the Truest Believer- Where to begin? First and foremost... Thank you so, so much for another fun reaction, and for season three's premiere on top of it all, Timothee! I am so happy and excited to continue watching more Once Upon a Time with you!!! And season three is absolutely phenomenal!! Yes... This Neverland arc is indeed a very different take on the whole Peter Pan story, but it's so, so fabulous, nonetheless! :) Robbie Kay as Peter Pan is absolutely brilliant in this role!!! And there's good reason as to why most fans of Once Upon a Time consider Pan to be among their absolute favorite villains throughout all of Once Upon a Time! Yes... Peter Pan is definitely older than Pan is in every other adaptation of Peter Pan. And yes... Robbie Kay is definitely older than the apparent age of the character's he's playing. Robbie Kay was eighteen years old at the time he played Peter Pan throughout season three. Still a teenager then, just as Pan is meant to be. Although... Pan is usually a little younger... Maybe a little closer to being Henry's age. Nonetheless... Pan and the Lost Boys are mostly played by older teenagers, but there are also some younger boys among them as well. They aren't all as old as the older teenage actors make them appear. At least not in appearance. Just in age, given that they live in Neverland... A Land where they do not grow up. And they're all fantastic!! :) Such an excellent episode, and what an excellent way to begin season three, by having each of our favorite characters come to Neverland to save Henry! And at last... We get to meet Peter Pan! And what an introduction!!!! :) Now... The idea of the "Home Office" that Greg and Tamara believed in is definitely weird. At least for me. It has been all along. It definitely makes sense that there would be a group of fanatics in our world who absolutely hate magic, and who would do everything they can to destroy it. So it's a great concept. And I actually do really love that the "Home Office" turns out to be all lies conjured up by Pan in order to get these two to fight for him, as Pan reveals that it's easier to get some people to hate something, rather than to get them to believe in something. This is very, very true. We see so every day. And all of this is brilliant deception from Pan, because Greg and Tamara were foolish and stupid. However, the concept is also a bit strange for me as well, because the way Greg and Tamara try to explain who they work for, makes absolutely no sense. They're so stupid to have not asked any questions from the people they worked for, and it's even more stupid that they are so clueless about who they were working for. Ugh!! Greg and Tamara are at last dead and gone. And I couldn't be happier with their demise. First... One of the Lost Boys calls upon the shadow to come down and rip out Greg's own shadow in order to kill him, then another of the boys shoots Tamara in her back with an arrow to kill her. However, she doesn't die right away. A short time later, Rumple comes upon her still alive and heals her in order to get her to talk about where Henry is. When she tells him all she knows about how Henry had run into the forest, Rumple then rips out her heart and crushes it... Thus killing Tamara too. Boy... Are their deaths just desserts and oh so sweet. :) Is it wrong for me to feel so happy by this? Perhaps so, but I can't help it. I was so glad to see their storylines finally come to an end! Not one fan of Once Upon a Time likes Greg/Owen and Tamara. Everyone considers them to be the worst villains and overall characters throughout the entire show. Because they are very poorly written characters overall. And I think that the creators and writers knew they were hated by the end of season two, which is why I suspect they wrote off their characters with their deaths such as they are. And so early on within this premiere episode, because no one wanted to see them around any longer. And rightly so. A very ballsy move, but brilliant! Also... Because we learn in this episode that Greg and Tamara had gotten their radio, equipment, and all of their instructions from the "Home Office", whom we now know to be Pan and the Lost Boys, it's very reasonable to assume that Tamara had also been given her powerful taser from Pan too. Which would explain why it could be powerful enough to kill someone as powerful as the Dragon, as well as Pinocchio too. The taser Tamara is seen using back in season two's episode, titled... Selfless, Brave, and True. This is my only explanation for why that taser could be powerful enough to do so. And if I am wrong, then you're right that it absolutely makes no sense. for them to have been killed that way So, I choose to believe she got the taser, which most likely has much heightened power within it, from Pan too. Next... This episode begins with Emma giving birth to Henry in a flashback that takes place eleven years earlier. This scene is meant to show what's going through Emma's mind as they are passing through the portal on their way to Neverland. But more so, it's meant to show Emma's strong drive to save Henry at all costs. She abandoned him once, and she is terrified of failing him again. And yes... This moment for Emma is incredibly heartbreaking. Unfortunately, just as Emma was back when she was giving birth to Henry, she now feels very much alone again in spite of having her parents, Hook, and Regina there with her to help her save him. She is angry with her parents and blames them for Henry becoming kidnapped in the first place, more so than she blames herself. Because they had convinced her to stay in Storybrooke to fight to save everyone, instead of taking her one chance to leave town with Henry beforehand, and even before she ever broke the curse so that they could have been together. However, as angry with them as she may be in this moment, Emma does come to understand that her anger is misplaced by the end. I believe that she's more angry at the whole situation because she's just so afraid for her son. And I don't believe she really wishes that she abandoned her parents and everyone else to remain cursed. Then... We see Hook steering the Jolly Roger through the wild portal as heroes and villains leave Storybrooke and arrive in Neverland. And what a ride! Upon their arrival, Hook comes up with a plan since he's the only one of them aside from possibly Rumplestiltskin to have been in Neverland before. One of my favorite scenes in this episode is the moment between Emma and Hook, as Hook comes into the crew's quarters where Emma is working out to pass the time and to build up her strength for their upcoming fight against Pan. I love how Hook gives Emma the very sword he had once given to Baelfire when he knew him as a boy. And I love Hook's line after Emma asks him how long he had known Neal, as Hook answers, "Long enough to know that I miss him too." Next... I also love the moment between Hook and Regina as well, as they talk about how villains may not get their happy endings, to which Hook responds, "I hope not. Because if it is, then we've wasted our lives." I believe that this shows us that Hook has begun to allow himself to feel the remorse over his villainous actions. Remorse that he's buried deep down for centuries. And I absolutely love, love, love this about him! I love this continued development within his character. So far from this one episode... I feel that between Hook, Regina, and Rumple, Hook appears to be working the hardest to stay on his newfound path of redemption. Or at least... He's the one most willing to listen to the heroes and follow their lead. Especially Emma's lead. Also... I love the scenes between Henry and Pan, who pretends to be another one of the Lost Boys who wanted to leave them and Neverland, and who fears Pan, in order to trick Henry and to see if he truly is the boy with the heart of the truest believer. What a brilliant twist that I didn't expect either! I should have known the boy was really Pan straightaway the first time I ever watched this episode back when it first aired on TV. However, this idea went way over my head, and I'm so glad that it did because it made this revelation of this boy being Pan that much more exciting!!! :) I also enjoy for the most part, the scenes between Neal, Mulan, Aurora, and Phillip, then later with Robin Hood, who yes... He is indeed played another actor different from the original actor chosen to play him... Tom Ellis (Robin Hood from season two's episode, titled... Lacey). Unfortunately, Tom Ellis couldn't come back to Once Upon a Time because he chose to take on a few other roles. Which makes me very, very happy! Because while I absolutely love Tom Ellis as an actor, who plays another fantastic character I love in the TV show... Lucifer, the truth is... I absolutely love this new actor chosen to play Robin Hood a little more... Sean Maguire!! And Tom Ellis is phenomenal in his next two roles too. First as William Rush in the short lived TV series titled... Rush, and especially as Lucifer Morningstar in Lucifer!!!! :) And to me... Sean Maguire just makes for a better Robin Hood from here on out. He's really, really fantastic!!! Just you wait, Tim! :) Next... I really love the whole fight scene between Regina and Mary Margaret, as well as Hook and David within the storm, as Emma discovers that their arguing is causing the storm to worsen. And their arguments certainly increase drastically. Not only does their arguing cause the storm to worsen, but that the storm summoned by the mermaid also causes their arguments to worsen as well, which is why Emma couldn't get through to anyone until she was willing to take such drastic measures to gain their attentions by jumping overboard. And thankfully, it works. Unfortunately, Emma nearly dies when she's struck by a part of the ship's riggings that crashes down on top of her and knocks her unconscious. Thankfully, David immediately jumps in after Emma, as Hook urges him to tie a rope around him so that he and the women can pull him and Emma back up. And once they do, the storm is over, and the mermaids are no longer a threat to them. I love the idea of the mermaids being trouble for the heroes and villains aboard the Jolly Roger. Because if you remember from other Peter Pan tales, and if you remember that in even the Disney movie, the mermaids weren't so nice either. They are more mischievous and dark. So, I really love that they are established as such in Once Upon a Time too! And Neverland most certainly is a very dark and cruel realm. I also really love each of Rumple's scenes once he goes off on his own to save Henry, including the moment when he whimsically mimics himself through his own motion he always makes upon introducing himself as Rumplestiltskin to one of the Lost Boys. So funny! Is it annoying that Rumple is once again trying to do everything on his own and leaving the others to their own fates? Of course. But he's Rumplestiltskin. I expected this from him. He's not a team player by any means. But I so love him for it too!! And yes... Rumple is absolutely right about Emma and her lack of belief and imagination. I absolutely agree with him, even though I'm mad at him for leaving Emma and the others alone too. And lastly... Another of my very favorite scenes is between our new team, when Emma stands up to them and takes up the role as their leader, saying they will need each of their skills and them working together if they have any hope of saving Henry and defeating Pan. I love Emma in this moment, and Jennifer Morrison is phenomenal all throughout this episode!! And I absolutely love Hook's line, "I quite fancy you, when you're not yelling at me." It's such a Hook thing to say. I love his smugness and bravado! :) Overall... What an absolutely brilliant episode, and great start to an incredible season!! More questions for sure, but the answers will come in time. I can't wait for more reactions for season three from you, Timothee!!! There's so much good to come!!! :) Until then, my dear friend... Sincerely, Heidi

Heidi Elizabeth Marcum
