Added 2018-04-18 18:57:48 +0000 UTChi everyone! recently i started a commission for houndicus @ tumblr of her character, iseut, and wanted to show you the process!
a lil reminderino, that for +5usd patreons i will compile an in-depth process breakdown when i'm done (same goes for all my painterly stuff), but the current wips are for all to see :) here we go!
i start with a couple of quick black&white thumbnail portraits to showcase values and angles! then it's time to choose the angle and lighting that works best. we decided to go with the #1 option!
so after doing some secret work (wink wink, +5usd patrons), i end up with a black and white base that i can call done and send in for check-ups:
now it's time to slap on some colours on top! i got them more or less blocked in, it's still a bit sloppy at this point and i don't worry about the edges. (fun fact: you can open both of the pics in the new tab and switch between them to see what changes the colours added; i like the eyes myself!)
and now, the most important work begins - time to pimp it the heck out! as much as i like the piece at this stage there's still a lot to do and refine, so a solid base is a must. now i can go ham on those feathers.
