Dark colours look good on the screen, but they turn out too dark on the printed page.
Therefore we need to imply darkness and remember that colour conext is based on other colours on the same page.
Here's an example of implied darkness -- you can see it's night, but the darkest hue behind Lu has 25% of black (K)*:

*K for "black" in CMYK colour mode used by printers; in order words how much black ink printer will add to the mix. 25% is already pretty dark!
