Strongest in DxD - Chapter 45

Ren walked calmly and took over in front of Scathach as he stared at the bodies of the Fallen Angels.

Scathach watched his master, and it seemed Ren was not only looking at the bodies of supernatural beings, but beyond.

Then with a smile, a single word left Ren's mouth.

"Arise"

The Immortal Witch's eyes widened as the whole place where they stood was engulfed in a deep darkness and above all a presence that reigned now.

The presence of "death".

When the darkness disappeared Scathach turned to his master and widened his eyes at what he saw.

From the body of the Fallen Angels hands of shadows emerged as they rose and Scathach was stunned by what she saw.

Above the bodies of each Fallen Angel were silhouettes made of shadows that took on their shapes with a blue and purple aura around them.

And especially the power they emanated was far superior to before.

"What is that?" asked Scathach in awe.

Ren smiled, "An ability of mine, it allows me to revive the dead to serve me," Ren said calmly.

It was actually an ability of his called [Shadow Extraction] that allowed Ren to revive any dead being to serve him.

This worked on all beings, from Gods to Demons as they all possessed souls, Ren had no idea how vast his shadow army was.

But he knew for sure it was strong enough to take down a Faction if used correctly.

In addition to beings who become shadows are stronger than usual due to Ren's immense amount of magic, the Fallen Angels who previously had low level power have become as strong as a High class being.

Scathach's eyes widened at the skill Ren had said and shown her.

The power to rule the dead and force them to serve Ren.

"What a frightening power," said Scathach, chuckling lightly.

"You really are…" Scathach began to speak as he stared at Ren through the darkness generated by her shadows.

"A Monarch of Shadows"

A few days later.

Student Council, Kuoh Academy.

The student council is the student body of the Kuoh Academy.

The Student Council helps to share students' ideas, interests and concerns with teachers and school principals. They also often help raise funds for school-wide activities, including social events, community projects, helping people in need, and school reform. For example, most schools run food fundraising campaigns, fundraising events and parties. Many members learn skills that are an extension of their formal education.

Not much is known about the Student Council, except that Sona was previously vice president during her second year. In her third year, Sona became Student President and the Student Council became a base for her and her nobility until graduation.

The sunlight illuminated the student council room, it was already dusk as twilight shone through the city.

Currently in the Student Council room there were a few people in the room as they tidied up the office after the school day.

And in that office currently was the president of the Kuoh Academy Student Council.

Sona Sitri, or Souna Shitori as she is known in the human world, sighed in resignation as she relaxed in her chair.

Her genius mind was full of thoughts about the past few days, with everyone, or almost everyone, turning to the attack that took place in the Underworld a few days ago.

To say that the Underworld was in chaos wouldn't do justice to what was really happening.

Soon after Sirzechs Lucifer's death the news traveled all over the underworld, shocking everyone.

Sona herself was not able to believe that someone had killed Sirzechs, after all he was considered the Strongest Demon in history, a Super Devil, someone like that would not die easily.

The entire underworld was in chaos, partly due to Maou Lucifer's death and partly due to the Angels' attack.

Although there were only two Angels that attacked the Underworld the damage was extremely large, mainly due to the Angels' blows being basically pure holy light.

In that small attack dozens of High and Supreme class demons were killed, not only pureblood demons but also reincarnated, dozens of properties were destroyed and the damage continued.

The Underworld had done their best to keep the information of Sirzechs' death from leaking out, but something like that proved impossible and soon everyone knew it.

Fearing an attack, the Underworld fortified its defenses while increasing its military power.

But for Sona the worst was what her sister, Serafall Leviathan, said about a possible new Great War breaking out.

Apparently the Elders of the Pillars of the Underworld were at all costs wanting to cut up the Angels for what happened.

Even Serafall and Falbium, two of the Maou were agreeing with this idea.

But as far as Sona knew, it wasn't due to a single person.

Ajuka Beelzebub.

The Maou Beelzebub had used all his Authority in the Underworld to stop any attacks on the Church, as it seemed that Ajuka found the whole situation strange.

Sona knew this because Maou himself had invited her to a conversation, where Sona explained everything he knew about the day of the incident and also about Ren Katsuo.

Sona still couldn't believe that Ren Katsuo had anything to do with it, Sona admitted that she had a crush on him, but even taking it out of her mind something like that wasn't possible.

Ren was a human who hadn't even awakened his Sacred Gear, and even if he had he could never defeat Sirzechs Lucifer, defeating Rias was one thing, but Sirzechs was something else entirely.

And in her mind Sona couldn't believe that a human could do something like that, even if they were a Longinus user.

And apparently Ajuka had thoughts similar to Sona's, that this whole story was very poorly told.

One example was the Angels who attacked the Underworld, Angels who had twelve wings showing their power, showing their rank among the Angels.

Seraphim.

Seraphim is considered the strongest of God's soldiers, the most powerful of the children of heaven. They were creatures of power, capable of taking on the Underworld's own Maou.

And Sona had never heard of those Angels, such powerful beings should be mentioned in various Church texts, and that was a thought Ajuka shared with her.

Sona even thought they might be new Angels created by God, but Ajuka seemed more skeptical about that confusing Sona at the time.

Putting her thoughts aside, Sona knew that if this wasn't resolved soon a new war would break out.

Sona sighed as she arranged all the papers on her desk, she was working her hardest to keep her territory under control now that Rias was no longer here.

Even after days had passed Rias and his Nobility were still in the best hospital in the Underworld, with the exception of the [Bishop] of Rias; Gasper Vladi who was still sealed.
