So, the game is in full gear again. Looking to get a vertical slice out by December. We've created a combat demo and are getting it into the hands of a select few playtesters for some early feedback. Although we've only tested a few people I would consider novice gamers, It seems it has turned out to be a rather complex combat system for a beat em up with the main critique being it needs tutorials. Which the only part of the game I've showed them was an EXE that boots up straight into a singular battle. It's nice they could see the "game" aspect enough to critique it needs a tutorial.. but what about everything else..? such as a title screen or.. music? lol But I realized I definitely need to up my presentation a bit or at least explain things a bit better at the start.
We've recently incorporated a "level", with a beginning, middle, end and a more natural fail state continuation that isn't a awkward keybinding. Will definitely help with the presentation aspect. The witch is now sporting some biker jacket as all the best beat em girls wear em, lol. Although designed as a temporary cover up of the naked witch doll, it is a very catchy look. So we'll see where it goes from here.
