Bishop Twins Timelapse and Process

Like with the other chess illustration I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted from the design of this pic, with the two twins mirroring each other. In this one I was mostly focusing on being time efficient. The way I accomplished this is by finishing up almost completely one of the bishops, and then mirroring it and adding the details on the new one, basically making an "alt" of the original one on the left.

I'm not really satisfied however with the differentiation, while the two are essentially twins I don't think I showed well enough the difference in character. I like the "good" one on the left but I feel like I should have been adding more work on the "evil" one, as she just has darker hair, which is hardly a difference honestly. I probably should have put more thought in this but I was tired so I didn't think about this clearly. This is also why I think it is probably better to plan everything in advance so that when you're at the end of an illustration and you're kinda tired with it you don't have to put more thought energy in it.

The rendering is also kinda weak, I have been studying anime rendering a little more recently and I find that my rendering is kinda flat, so I need to address that in the future. The main problem is that the values between the parts in shadow and the ones in light is very minimal, so if you squint it is the general design that pops out more than the forms of the body. While this can be useful in this case, being mostly a design illustration, I still think it would have been better to pull out form a little more. I think it's a waste to draw nice boobies and butts and then not render them in a way that brings out their shapes more lol. This is probably going to be something I'm going to address in the next few illustrations.

Despite my gripes with it I think the designs actually came out quite well, they are instantly recognizable, hot and they give some hints that they are both chess pieces and that they are bishops.

For the lineart here I've also refined the sketch again, but this time I spent a ton of time trying to make it look right. I think the reason for that is that I zoom in too much, so I end up focusing too much on details when I should be focusing on the big forms first. This is also something I'm going to try to focus on for the next few illustrations.
