I recently discovered the game Jet Set Radio, and fell in love with the artstyle. I feel like bold shapes and vivid colors with thick inked lines work really well with my style so I felt like I needed to practice it more and JSR's artstyle was just a perfect fit for it.

Decided to combine study with an illustration so this came out.

I am kinda happy with the result, I feel like both the overall design and the colors really work in this one. This was also surprisingly quick considering how much there is going on in this pic, and the fact that I did two alts on top. This probably means that I'm gonna develop this kind of style a lot more in the near future.

Only thing I don't like about this one is how Gum's shirt doesn't look right, it is way too short at the top and the more you stare at it the worse it looks. Unfortunately I figured that out when I was already finalizing the illustration, so I couldn't fix it as much as I wanted. In the end however I don't think it ruins the illustration overall, it's just something that bothers me a little when I think about it.

The main thing I learned about this pic is that it is extremely important to get a very tight sketch, then ink fast, as when the base design works well the whole illustration will work, and from there it is just a matter of putting everything together as quickly as possible. Definitely gave me more confidence in using a more bold inking style.
