I'm pretty sure the Mandy Saga took place over less than an in-universe week, then they got engaged "a few days later." Probably spurred them on to meeting them. Or maybe this is set earlier in the story, I dunno, but I'd probably have a similar reaction to meeting the woman who went through everything Mandy put them through and saved my son's life and is now going to marry him.
