Angel Time-lapse

Here's a little time-lapse that started as a sketch in my Moleskine and moved onto Procreate to finish. You can tell I'm still torn between rougher textured pencils/brushes and the smoother ones that I use for more realistic work. I unded up using Kyle T's "fountain of yoots" inker for the line work and "gouache a go go" to color.

My personal drawings have really been a trial of simplifying and trying not to overwork things. In the back of my mind, I'm always trying to return to the kind of traditional comic work I did in art school, before I got sucked into gaining attention on social networks, not matter how much my skills in digital painting improve.

I've scribbled about six pages worth of full background thumbnails in my sketchbook this week, so I can practice simplifying. I'm pretty excited about them :)

Studio

Anyway, I'm still set on outfitting the 3rd floor bedroom as a studio space.

It's such an awesome little corner, with an amazing view. I just need a plan to make it usable somehow, which is hard to do without electricity these days. I'll need a drafting table and chair at least, shelving to store my painting supplies... I think they make battery operated lamps and heaters...? I'll have to do some research.

Cosmetically, it does need a fresh coat of paint and new window treatments, but I'd at least like to keep the blue trim, since it's the house's original, 150 year old colors (mmm... lead). The floor is very old and worn, but I actually think it's beautiful as it is.

Stay tuned! I'll slowly start working on it :)
