Sneakpeak - Strictness Overhaul and the rise of the Very Strict

Path of Exile is an escalating game. Every update GGG adds more items, removes some other ones, adjusts mechanics and on average increases the power creep. Old items become less expensive and valuable and some inherent properties of the drops change (such as stacked currency drops).

In order to address the latest wave of changes the upcoming update will include a full overhaul of the strictness distribution.

The overhaul doesn't change the number or names of the strictness, but all of them have been adjusted.

The big focus here are the strictness levels:

• Semi-Strict
• Strict
• Very Strict
• Uber Strict

The strictness are designed with specific intents:

Semi-Strict: just starting out the league. Missing basic currency and supplies. Resistances are not balanced out yet, upgrades are easily found on. You're running white maps, yellow at highest.

Strict: your character is decently equipped, but you're looking for upgrades. You would like to leave every map with some rares to identify, but only the good candidates. I also want it to be a solid long-term option for HC or SSF.

Very Strict: your character is optimized, the league has progressed beyond the first days and you want to minimize hideout times. You no longer care about identifying rares and this strictness will only show you rare T1 rings/amulets of the generic rare drops.

Uber Strict: your character is optimized and very fast. Your goal is to maximize profit. This strictness will start cuts down on items with low value in order to increase speed.

Every single rule in the filter has been re-evaluated to match these intents. As a result all strictness have become a bit more strict, but this is especially true for very strict. The goal is that once geared in the endgame endgame pretty much anyone can plug in very-strict (or uber-strict) and be fairly happy with the outcome.

This has effect on pretty much any section of the filter, but here are some examples:

• All generic rare armours/weapons hidden on very strict
• Random influenced rares hidden on very strict (not jewellery, not expensive versions)
• Low tier currencies hidden on very strict
• Trashy Uniques lose their highlight on very strict ( still shown, but no minimap icon etc)
