Socialist Feminism: Introduction to Alexandra Kollontai

In this debut episode of our new theory and history series on Socialist Feminism, the gang begins with an introduction on Russian socialist revolutionary, politician, diplomat, Marxist theoretician, and overall badass Alexandra Kollontai. There is a brief discussion of her incredible life and we also discuss her 1909 work The Social Basis of the Woman Question, where she makes a break from the liberal feminism of her day to establish the foundation for a Marxist and socialist feminism. Tune in to know more!

Turns out there is a podcast on this very subject! Goldman and Kollontai corresponded and even met: https://www.buzzsprout.com/251881/8613289-83-a-k-47-bonus-episode-emma-goldman-and-alexandra-kollontai

given emma goldman was an anarchist and alexandra kollontai was a soviet marxist, i do doubt they really have much correspondence. however, i (jorge) am not an expert on goldman. i do suspect there is a common origin, which is a feminism that goes beyond the liberal feminism of their time.

I am familiar with many ideas similar to Kollontai's (and originating in the same timeframe) through Emma Goldman. Were they effectively independent thinkers or did their theories have a common origin?
