Max stood there, reading the notifications and relishing the sensation that surged within.

That was… exhilarating.

Yes… Part of me is sad that I could not convert his racial abilities. It would appear that his skills were primarily focused on his physical form.  Elemental versions of attacks and speed, which is why his appearance changed colors.

Max listened to Bob but bent down, feeling the sensation of items within the rubble at his feet.

Four pulsing gems, a black, white, red, and green one, were contained within the rocky remains. He picked them up, storing each of the palm-sized objects.

“It appears Kherbann has become nothing more than dust in the wind! For those of you who bet on this one, thank you for contributing to the system!”

A white portal appeared beneath Max’s feet and he found himself back in the white room from earlier, Jazzjak standing there, his head shaking side to side.

“You… toyed with him.”

“Was it that obvious?”

“Yes!” exclaimed the vorpal bunny. “I… I honestly am scared to ask what your stats are but to know you easily defeated him… this might slow down those who challenge you for a bit.”

“So now what?”

“We wait here for a minute and then –”

The stone wall had a door shape appear and a section of it slid out, revealing a red gelatinous creature that squeezed through it. Two eye stalks and a mouth floated in its semi-transparent body.

That’s like the ones from Igarra’s tower.

“Welcome, Max Hoste, or should I call you Ifrit?” the blob said. “I am Hoekamona and I must say you did not disappoint! The system made quite a profit even after you and a few others wagered on an underdog win! Now, this is a rare visit, as we often only come on your first appearance to explain the arena process to those who still need it. Do you need me to explain anything to you?”

Max shook his head and motioned toward Jazzjak. “I think I’ve got a pretty good grasp after having fought in Igarra’s so many times. My only real question is how many were watching this fight?”

“Sadly, we only showed it to about 7,492 worlds. Most don’t tune in to watch a fight like this but if you do fight again, that number should double or triple!” exclaimed Hoekamona. “We’ll have some fun figuring out the odds for so many viewers.”

The blob shook as it spoke, gyrating in every direction, waving some stubby arms that looked ready to drip at any moment. “Let’s see… Jazzjak… that is an interesting name. Tell me, did you inform this one of the limited betting pools?”

“Not yet… we weren’t expecting to be challenged or fight so soon.”

“I see,” Hoekamona said. “So then, Max. There are limited amounts of DP that can be wagered on every arena match. To prevent massive abuse of wagers and schemes, a cap is set for each tier. You were close to the highest amount we allow to be bet for one of your rank.  You do realize how much of a boon winning this amount is?”

[ 20,000,000 Divine Points has been deposited ]

Max knew how much he would earn, but seeing that number appear was a surprise.

“I do.”

“Do you?” Hoekamona asked. “For a new World Champion, earning 2,000 DP a day, you just acquired almost twenty-seven years' worth of points in a single go.  We shall be watching and will cap how much you can bet right now. Until the next time we meet, congratulations and may your rise be similar to your previous moniker.”

The host of the arena didn’t turn, just simply moving the other direction, its eyes and mouth inside flipping around.

As the door swung into place, turning into a white wall again, Max felt the magic surrounding him and Jazzjak.

He blinked and found himself back in the room with the table they had taken from their old Faction. Max had repaired it with his Wood Mastery skill. The other six were sitting around the table, laughing upon their arrival.

“Our hero!” Sog exclaimed.

“Nothing like earning twenty thousand DP while sitting on my arse,” Fowl said. “Nice fight by the way.”

Max nodded and moved to where Tanila was, holding Miranna and smiling.

“Have fun dear?” she asked.

“I did. Now we need to move forward with the next plan,” he replied, sitting by his wife. “Jazzjak, we’re ready when you are.”

Their helper nodded, summoning his tablet, his padded fingers dancing across it.

A display appeared before all of them, displaying the information Max had discussed at the arena.

“So, Max said that he would like to purchase the five million version of both of these. You will all receive an increase in DP from these on this world.  Each of these will last for one hundred years.”

“Why can’t we just buy five of the one million versions?” Fowl asked.

“So he can do math,” Jazzjak junior replied.

Chuckles came from everyone but the dwarf with two middle fingers on display.

“That is because these effects cannot stack. If you had the 10% bonus and purchased the 25% it would stay at the higher tier. This is to help prevent individuals like yourself who have discovered a possible trick.

“Now he also has ten new worlds under his domain.”

A few grunts came from the others as they shook their heads.

“Nothing changes,” Cordellia teased. “So what’s the advantage he gets now?”

“It’s roughly forty-three thousand DP gained per day from those ten,” Jazzjak said. “I’ve done a quick scan of the worlds and most of them are currently under a trio of gods. He can decide whether to interact with the gods of those worlds, but since I have no doubts they watched the fight between Kherbann and him, they will not want to fight. He should take care of that problem sooner rather than later.”

“But how?” Batrire asked. “We all know the ability he has to travel between planets he has been on is a one-month cooldown between uses, and there is no transportation gate like the world we had been on before.”

“Correct,” Jazzjak said. “But he mentioned building a small-scale version for you all. It costs ten million and will be limited to worlds he has a connection with.  Eventually, if you desire to connect to one of the networks of other worlds, you can spend the one hundred million DP required to purchase a mass transport device.  From there you can then invest in trade and new inhabitants.”

“Do we want that?” Rakonath asked. “What is to prevent someone from coming here and causing conflict on our world? My kind are known for being hunted.”

“That is a valid question, but you must remember you have three hundred years of safety. No god can come to your world who is more than a tier above you, and they cannot attack you outside of the arena and having made a challenge.

“Those who do come here, while most likely strong or skilled, would be foolish to believe they would stand a chance against any of you. Most are not beyond the 60th floor of the tower. You all remember how that floor changes everything.”

“Does it behoove us though to invite others to our world?” Batrire asked. “What bonuses or perks do we get from such a thing?”

“Increased DP income, your citizens gain new skill opportunities and your world can experience faster gains from those who hunt as new items and armor are traded for.  The flip side is that your monetary system is… weak. You need to find resources that can serve as a basis for everything. Max mentioned he had a fair number of dragon items, which could be easily traded for a standard currency used throughout the systems.”

“So no gold?” Fowl asked.

“No gold. There are worlds where every creature on them is made of gold. They could easily crash your financial platform. That is why the system has a mechanism in place for situations like this. Each token is based on a value of something every god wants. Divine points.”

Max cleared his throat, tapping his fingers on the table.

“Ah, yes, the other thing.”

Jazzjak’s fingers moved again and new information appeared on the display before everyone.

Attribute Points:

1 Point - 1,000,000 DP

Cap of 1,500 points per Stat at this cost.

All 5 Stats must have 1,500 purchased next tier is unlocked.

*****

“Wait, what?! One million DP per stat point?” Fowl asked.

“That is correct. It will take roughly seven billion, five hundred million DP to purchase the required 1,500 points for all of your stats before the next tier unlocks,” Jazzjak replied. “You would–”

“Billions?”

The rabbit nodded at their dwarven warrior, whose jaw was close to hitting the table, had his beard not come between the two objects.

“Stop acting like a fool,” Sog said. “Eternity… you keep forgetting you have forever to earn those points. Provided you don’t die, of course.”

Fowl scowled and their demon scowled back.

“Stop it,” Tanila snapped, her daughter making some noise as she spoke. “We all knew this next part of defeating the tower and becoming what we are was going to be a long road. Each of us also knew we’d be together for that time. So until you get a new planet and can move elsewhere, stop acting like fools.”

Both dwarf and demon frowned, neither responding as their mage glared at them.

“The point of this is to show you what we’re going against,” Max said. “Bob and I’ve been running the math and figuring out different options. Kherbann had 5,000 years to get stronger. Based on his planets and what I can tell, he spent most of his DP during that time on stats. Which means the power of older gods is not to be ignored. The problem comes from two other factors.

“One, you have three hundred years of protection. This is the safety net each of you has. Good, bad, whatever you want to say, staying a world champion has its advantages. It limits who can attack you when the safety net falls.

“The other problem is how to acquire worlds.”

Everyone but Fowl nodded.

“What? Was that in the book?”

“Yes…” Batrire said, sighing. “You have to be tier six to create a new world.”

“Uh… that’s like a lot of DP.”

“It is, Fowl,” Max replied. “But Jazzjak here has said he is willing to help teach us what he’s learned in his lifetime trying to help other gods. So, combined with what we think might work and someone who has watched other gods fail, we stand an actual chance of succeeding.”

“Which means for the next few years, we’ll just enjoy the time we have while we wait for our Divine Points to increase,” Tanila said. “For the first time in a long time, we don’t have to worry about fighting.”

“Wait, I don’t get to fight?” Sog asked. “What the hell am I supposed to do?”

“Torture your demons?” Cordellia asked.

Max laughed when he saw Sog’s eyes narrow as he stared up at the ceiling, both lips pulled in tight.

“Torturing my own children… that sounds amazing!”

I like how the chapters are going, fighting Gods again is much more interesting than the boring tower stuff and always trying to drag up his team mates however I would like to comment on some inconsistencies I found or things that could use a better explanation. 1). Kherbann never actually said "No Surrender" Max offered at the start of the fight but he never actually said no or he wouldn't. Doing this seems like a very big loop hole that everyone would take advantage of. 2). If Max killed so many other world champions already why doesn't he have other worlds? Were they taken by not being able to respond to challengers that came to them. If so how is Max going to defend the worlds he just took over?? 3. Earlier it was stated that Max's stats are much higher than what Kherbann's were (Even by base stats it said Kherbann might have a total of 5000), so why is he gaining so much from killing him, did the way Consume work change if so why didn't he gain much more when he killed 10,000 elves? 4. Also in the above it said 15 skills were consumed , with 9 not matching the entity type meaning 6 should be able to be consumed, and only 5 were shown. 5. What happened to needing Demon souls for abilities, Max uses Demonic teleporting constantly but I've never seen any mention of him further killing demons 6. Did we forget about the Demon / Dragon stones, with those Max should have a base 50% resistance + bloodline resistance + item resistances, he should be near undamageable now. 7. I also feel like corruption is a forgotten mechanic, for stuff like his Death Magic. Just a few chapters ago he was talking about killing his wife's mother who was defenseless and surrendered for a bit of extra power, and he just killed someone also surrendering and begging for his life, plus the glee he just felt for killing 10,000 I would say Max is long past the point of being "corrupted" 8. It also bugged me dearly that the Merfolk King's Gift keeps being referred to as boots when it was originally introduced as pants 9. There honestly doesn't seem to be that big of a difference between Max's artifact and the one he created himself, situationally the older one could be said to be better with more growth potential (unlimited growth, vs 3 max growths). However, is max currently duel weilding the weapons to better take into account the stat bonuses with the older one being able to transform he could turn it into a small dagger or brass knuckles. Apologies, this came out far more nitpicky then I meant, I really do love the series and have learned to just smile through some of the inconsistencies, but I feel like a lot these big ones could be cleared up with a simple explanation and it would make me (and I'm sure others) feel a ton better.

Shawn, so I’ve been trying to figure out how to phrase this question cause it’s kind of complicated. Do a skills that directly attack calculate differently than skills that just enhance your stats. Because I know that you’ve said before things like berserker don’t take into account stat boosts from percentage items or hard stat increases like Sunder provides. So a skill like berserker would triple max’s base strength of 2000 rather than triple maxes strength of 4000 after including his “Godslayer” (sorry artifact seems too plain and One of the 9 Wekime God Of Force is a bit long lol). But with something that DOES attack directly like power strike include stat modifiers? Like his favorite combo is berserker and power strike. But if power strike doesn’t factor his strength after his berserker increase, isn’t he just wasting skills? Because attacking for three times your base strength as a special skill when your strength is currently at three times your base strength Seems like a waste. It would make more sense if he was striking for 18,000 strength instead of 6000 strength when each individual attack from berserker is already scaled to 6000 strength I’m also assuming that the damage calculation for the 100% increase damage to God‘s scales off of everything else being added together correct? It just calculates the damage based off his strength after including all the modifiers and bonuses from items and skills? So his single strike from godslayer that decimated the other gods leg was boosted from his 11000 total strength?
