Extended Writing Update

Chapter one officially has a new scene, and I love it. It lets MC connect with some folks in the community they grew up in, provides some insight on their daily life since the events of book one, and shows us progress in how MC interacts with the magic! I really like stuff like this, where we get to play in ways that show MC has a life that's really embedded in the city. They've got relationships in Den Zarel, but also with the people they grew up around. We're always going to spend more time with fellow agents and companions, but it's nice to throw in a little here and there when I can of outside-people. Like the scene with Sena in book one's eighth chapter - I'm a fan of that one. Tbh I kinda want to go there, I like the vibe of her cafe 😂 I also realized I need to incorporate MC using the magic in the chapter's opening scene. I don't know why I didn't think of that before, aside from "I have twelve open tabs about this project alone in my head at all times and it slipped through the cracks." I don't think I'll have time to get it into this month's alpha update, but I'm going to make it a priority for February's.

So that's the good news. The bad news is I spent this week violently ill 😭 So my productivity beyond that scene has been like, zero. What it basically means is that I'm going to have to try and rally next week to get the alpha update where it needs to be in time, but I think I can do it. I'm thanking my past self so much for giving me till the end of the month, lol.

In the upcoming week I'm hoping I'll recover enough to finish the entire council interaction and nail down the parts of chapter 2 I want to have finished for the demo. It continues to feel so crazy to me, the way I'm basically wrapping up chapter 1 before the first game's even out 😅 I don't know if I'll ever get used to that, but I do appreciate it. I have so many stories in my head that I'm glad I'm working fast - otherwise I'd be booked out for the next 20 years.

In other news, I'm thinking of adjusting the tiers here. I don't think there's anyone currently at the $3 tier and it seems less popular overall. I've seen some other patreons like this one have $10 tiers. It felt too strange at first, offering that high of a tier when I hadn't yet built up a backlog of content - but I'm considering adding it around when the game releases. The $1 tier would benefit by basically having the $3 merged into it, so Citizen of Leas people would get the monthly extras. Speak now or forever hold your peace if you object, I guess 😂

Here's this week's preview ~

I quickly handle it before I even get up, not wanting to leave it just lying around my friend's quarters. I've learned over time to be slow with it; each piece that returns to me brings feelings and voices and a few scattered notes of song with it.
