Extended Writing Update
Added 2024-12-29 23:33:25 +0000 UTCThe first update after a demo release is always funny because I feel like I'm standing here like well, technically you're playing the update 😂 It was a good one to write - it took a ton of rewrites but the start of a story is like that, for me. It takes a lot to iron things out until they "feel" right. I went through a few iterations, most notably one where we made it to the wilds at the end of chapter one and then I realized I needed to slow it down. So much happened at the end of book one that it just is too much to jet out of the city right away for book two. Plus, I like Leas, let's stay here for a minute lol.
I've still got to write the two RO stories left - Keo's will be around 1k like the other two. It wasn't the original plan, but since Rin's and Wren's both wound up that length I'm not going to shortchange Keo! And the fourth (Monthly Extra) story will be a more typical bonus story.
It's kind of crazy having a chapter of book 2 mostly done when book 1 hasn't even released yet. And the bonus stories on top of it have been interesting in terms of my workload, but I'm proud of myself for how much I'm getting done. Looking forward to January being calmer, but still proud. I just really like how everything's turned out so far.
On a purely writing-in-general note, I've been struggling a lot lately with how many projects I want to work on. There's just not enough hours in the day and gods I wish I could clone myself. It makes me glad that I do have chapter one mostly written, because there's so much I want to write about the world of Leas. I can see so much of MC's story in my head and I'm always impatient to get more of it out there into the world. Add to that my outside-Leas stories like Apotheosis and Flashpoint and you've got a very busy writer, I guess.

I raise a brow. "Alright," I concede, unsure if I'm more surprised or amused. "I guess everybody's got secrets. And you did tell us that was one of yours, back in the wilds."
