Extended Writing Update

I got so swept up in the beta process I almost forgot to write this 😂 Don't worry - I set alarms on my phone for exactly this sort of thing.

The beta is going amazing. I admit, I was worried I wouldn't be able to find testers other than the two I'd already recruited (who are both amazing, so I would've done alright even so). But turns out I had nothing to worry about! I'm getting such good feedback that it reminds me with certain testers of back when I was writing for a company and actually had an assigned editor 😆 I feel like I hit the jackpot, and the game is already getting better.

I'm also really encouraged by the fact that so far there's a generally positive reaction to the game from the testers. The criticism I've gotten is both constructive and not on anything major so far, which bodes well. I'm hoping there won't be anything big I need to rework, so I can get it submitted to HG asap. Fingers crossed lol. I do have my worries about later chapters and whether I've accidentally made them confusing, but time will tell.

I didn't expect to be this energized by the beta process. I've gotten these really thoughtful notes and every time I get one it's like my whole mood lights up. Kind of reminds me of those old "I Spy" books. Like remember there'd be this giant spread of things on the pages and you had to find the things the narrator "spied?" (Stay with me, I'm almost done with this metaphor I swear) It's like someone's helping me spy little parts where the story could be better, and every time one's pointed out to me I get that rush of excitement I used to get from finding one of the things in the books.

As far as pure writing goes, with the Leas beta complete I mostly worked on Flashpoint today. I'm freaking loving it. I'm hoping I'll get another update to its alpha up soon. The ROs feel so different from Leas and it's really fun to step into such different dynamics. Plus the whole "modern" setting thing. I almost never write in the real world, which has made both Flashpoint and the budding Apotheosis fun ventures into new territory.

...I just realized the last time I wrote anything set in the real world was supernatural fanfiction 🤣

This week's preview is from Flashpoint, since that's what I'm working on :)

Desks were thrown around the room, and I stopped short as I saw one hanging by its fourth leg on the lip of a broken window. Every last one of the windows was gone. Destroyed. Like in the movies, when somebody sings too high.
