Designing his science project was a little tough but I think I managed to get something between a leaf blower, vacuum pump, and "what the fuck is that"? Well, we'll find out eventually...

It's actually a pre-made screen tone I had saved in a pack of free-use tones. Just like traditional patterns on screens every artist should have some go-to binary tones. The trick is in applying them - getting the scaling and positioning right makes all the difference. Of course, knowing which tones to apply to amplify the mood helps too.

I realized that you can combine textures together as long as the screen frequency is the same they don't create any unintended or distracting patterns. One of the greatest things about challenging yourself is you always figure out new shit, haha.

On another note, I see that you were definitely able to iron out the tones that you wanted. The swirling pattern in the background of the last panel, this was a brush similar to the one you showed on stream or did you try something different?
