I've flipped the canvas here as I think the image reads a little better, and worked on the form of the figure, the details of the image and the overall expression. I'm happy with her look, but I'm thinking her hair is maybe a touch too big so it will get refined during the line work.
My sketches tend to be pretty tight and accurate already. Maybe someday I'll learn my lesson and go straight into lines, but the sketches afford me many opportunities to play with proportions and to experiment without worry of messy line art. Up next is a delicate act as I try to preserve the look of the sketch by carefully drawing over it. Man, I gotta find a way to get out of this trap...

There's part of me that really loves the poofy hair pillow but I do think you're right that it's a bit too poofy. I also love the adult expression. You did a similar expression to the alkaid sketch you did way back and I really loved that.
