Hello from my new home and work space! 💜

So this week & coming weekend is the final part of moving into my new place.
I am so excited because I get a whole room to do my work in! No more working in my bedroom!
I love this little study already and I think once I get it how I need it, it's going to be perfect.. HOWEVER! Things can never go smoothly can they. 😄 This room has laminate flooring which makes the echo soooo loud in here and the windows don't close properly at the moment, which lets in a lot of noise from outside. Oh and did I mention there's a car garage round the back of this house? Why me. 😅 On a serious note, I'm really thankful to have this place.
I was thinking of how to make this room as soundproof as I can but honestly I don't think it's going to work. It looks like I'm going to have to buy a sound booth (£1500 for some metal poles and blankets?! Aaaargh!) but unfortunately that's going to have to wait until Christmas/the tax deadline is over. That means for the next month or so I'm going to be working hard to get as many audios backlogged for you as I can to tide us over.
I know you're all so kind and lovely, and you'll say don't work yourself too hard, but as I said yesterday this is such a purpose for me. I love making audios for you guys and I don't want there to be a break in content.
I should have saved all of this for my monthly ramble. Sorry for the essay everyone! I'll post some more pictures of the new place when we're moved in & settled. I hope you're all having the best weekend.

*obligatory warning to not overwork yourself and that if theres a break in content nobody is going anywhere and i will happily pay 25 bucks a month if you only post cat pics aside* The new place soudns great! Im so happy that you were able to get it and that you wont be stuck with your old grouchy trash-bin obsessed landlord anymore. What if you had an audio where the echo was incorporated? Like spending the night in an old barn where you can see stars through the gaps between the slats in the rough, and theres antique tools to look at when you roll over? Just an idea that i came up with all on my own
2020-09-16 00:12:05 +0000 UTCAlternatively, you can always take advantage of the echo and make a bunch of “cave exploration” audios: 1st date spelunking, treasure hunting in a cave, Peaches Teaches: Stalagmites vs Stalactites 😄. From a listener perspective I never actually hear a difference whenever you ask can you hear an echo or this or that, so hopefully that calms your fears a bit. Good luck and don’t work yourself too hard! 😉

Really good to hear you managed to secure a place for your little family 🤗 An idea (idk if its cheaper or more expensive) would be to choose a section of that room, hang some thicker blankets, put a fur (or thick fuzzy rug) on the floor and then load the walls with those sound blocks. I feel like that may be a more affordable option?
