Patreon Q&A
Added 2022-06-12 21:56:06 +0000 UTCHi all!
Now that I'm settled in to the new kitchen and have a little more free time, I wanted to do a Q&A and just a general catch up. I'm putting a few times down, so vote which time would be most convenient for you. If you're not able to make it live, I'll post it afterward on here as well.
Also, let me know your questions in the comments or just bring them when we meet via Zoom.

You always seem to be in very good cheer in your videos (except sometimes at the tasting portion 😆) but I'm sure some of these dishes / videos have been a real bear to make it through. What are some of the emotional journeys you've been on for specific recipes, and for your new career on YouTube?

2022-06-20 16:21:17 +0000 UTCI know that I just dumped alot of thoughts here. Sorry 😐
2022-06-17 22:02:01 +0000 UTCIt would be dope to have a series of videos about hauntings/famous unsolved crimes and dishes associated with those events. It could be called Tasting Mystery maybe...?!?
2022-06-17 21:59:44 +0000 UTCAnother thought would be to visit some old wineries in California to do a series of Drinking History videos. Each one could feature the history of specific wine types in California and tales about vineyards (hauntings, tomfoolery, etc). I think there might be some particular vineyards with some cool history.
2022-06-17 21:57:35 +0000 UTCWould you ever consider going on road trips to visit places in California that specialize in historical recipes? Also, a trip to the Renaissance Faires/SCA gatherings to cook alongside some other food nerds would be very cool. Thoughts?
2022-06-17 21:51:48 +0000 UTCAre there any plans to collaborate with Native Californian Nations like the Chumash, Alliklik, Kitanemuk, Serrano, Gabrielino Luiseno Cahuilla, and the Kumeyaay to make dishes based on oral histories?
2022-06-17 21:48:11 +0000 UTCDo you find that you enjoy the process of creating an episode more when it's a food you've had before or something that you're approaching for the first time? Also, what's the approximate count of the times you've been able to reuse that clip from the hardtack episode? XD

2022-06-13 18:52:26 +0000 UTCWhat place are you most eager to visit while in Scotland? Is there any food or beverage you aim to taste there, that you haven't tried before?
2022-06-13 18:14:18 +0000 UTCDo you have a favorite time period?
2022-06-13 17:04:44 +0000 UTCPerhaps this is a little too personal, but could we have a bit of a tour of the new place/garden?

2022-06-13 15:15:16 +0000 UTCWhat do you feel has been the most challenging aspect of becoming/being a Youtuber? What do you consider to be the best, the worst, and the most ridiculous-pointless kitchen inventions ever?
2022-06-13 15:03:20 +0000 UTCWhat flavor throughpoints are you finding across the centuries and cultures?
2022-06-13 14:32:58 +0000 UTCNow that you have been “tasting” and “drinking” history, are there any other aspects of life in historical times that you would be interested in exploring? (ie, technology, clothing, making dyes, etc)
2022-06-13 12:47:46 +0000 UTCReal Tonkatsu Ramen! Noodles from scratch, same for the broth, pork and garnishes. Yum!

2022-06-13 12:23:45 +0000 UTCIf money were no object, is there a recipe that you would love to do?
2022-06-13 00:36:27 +0000 UTCWho would be your dream guest to feature on the show (be it chef or not and within the realm of possibility or not)?
2022-06-12 23:46:41 +0000 UTCHave you ever selected a recipe, tested it, tested it again, and said ... Yuck. Not going there
2022-06-12 22:57:07 +0000 UTCHow much has the book changed from your original vision? Are there any ingredients and/or techniques which you would never consider featuring on Tasting History? What's your favourite fun little historical anecdote? I remember you've mentioned hoping to feature First Nations' cuisines at some point; will there ever be any episodes on indigenous Australian cuisines? (I do understand that the ingredients would be hard to get hold of!) Will there ever be an episode about Aaron Burr? (IIRC, he once told off the Senate for eating apples and cake while the impeachment trial of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Chase was in session - look it up, it turned into a hilarious little argument - which provides a food connection.)
