Hi all!
I've officially started research for a second cookbook and this one will have few, if any, recipes from the show. It's all new! While that is exciting, it's also daunting because that means testing out a lot of new recipes.
For the first cookbook, many of you helped me with the recipe testing and, once again, I'm coming to you for help. So in the next month, I'm going to figure out a way to have people sign up for different recipes and provide feedback. It'll be a pr...

Hi everyone! After a year of entering recipes, the Tasting History website is finally live (www.tastinghistory.com).
Not every recipe is in there yet, but it's enough that I thought I'd put it out there. Also, while I'm making a small mention at the end of this Friday's episode, I wanted to do a soft launch just with patreon patrons. I'd love any feedback on the design, functionality, etc. Just leave it in the comments. This is absolutely a work in progress, so critiques are welco...

I’m so thrilled with how well the Garum video has been received. I worried people would be sick of Garum, but it seems they are not. Thank you all for being so supportive through the process of making it.
Also, I’m starting to plan out videos for 2024. are there any stories, topics, or dishes you want to see?

Based on the response, we’re going to do a meet up this Sunday, 10/15 from 4-7pm at Flying Saucer Draught Emporium at 111 E 3rd St, Fort Worth TX.
I’m trying to make a group reservation, but it may be more casual so just come down and have a drink. Provided my flight in is uneventful, I should be there from 4-7pm. All are welcome!

Hi all!
I had hoped to add a last minute book signing in Fort Worth next Sunday, 10/15 but the publisher wasn’t able to get it arranged so last minute. So instead, I thought a Patreon meetup might be fun. This is a poll to gauge interest/ability then I’ll arrange something and post later this week.
So, if you are in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, would you want to meet up in Downtown Fort Worth in the late afternoon of 10/15?

At today's Patreon Happy hour, I debuted the first new shirt design in well over a year. "You Had Me At Garum" was something someone said to me at one of the book signings and I just knew it belonged on a shirt.
I got it last week and have washed it three times with very little shrinking and the writing is still clear as ever. Plus the shirt is super soft.
If you'd like to order one, they're at the link above and they have a free shipping offer through July 5th. Buy 2 ...

The book just hit the New York Times bestseller list and I have to thank everyone on Patreon not just for helping me with the recipes, but for listening to me gripe and complain through the entire process. Your support truly kept me going when I wanted to quit. Now will you stick with me for a second book?

Hi everyone!
I know this will only apply to a small group, but I do hope that if you live near one of the cities I'm visiting on the book tour, that you come out so we can actually meet! Note that, while the talk in Seattle is sold out, the signing itself is still open.
I'll also be coming to New York City over Memorial Day weekend and will likely have a signing on Tuesday, May 30. More details to come.

Unfortunately, it is only available to those in the US, but for international patreon members, please send me a message and I'll be able to send those directly to you.
For those in the US, just fill out this form by April 17th.

Hi all!
As promised, here is the video of the Q&A we had today.
Unfortunately, I'm not great with the technology and switched my view to gallery, so the view is not the best. Maybe it's better to listen to : )
Thank you so much for all of your questions and we will definitely do it again soon.

Hi all!
Now that I'm settled in to the new kitchen and have a little more free time, I wanted to do a Q&A and just a general catch up. I'm putting a few times down, so vote which time would be most convenient for you. If you're not able to make it live, I'll post it afterward on here as well.
Also, let me know your questions in the comments or just bring them when we meet via Zoom.

Hi all!
I know many of you have been following the photoshoot for the cookbook on Instagram all week, but for those not on Instagram, here are a few behind the scenes images of some of the dishes.
Watching this team work has been a masterclass, not only in photography, but in food styling, cooking, and time management. There are two cooks, one of whom is a food stylist and watching them in the kitchen is like watching a ballet. There is another stylist who specializes in t...

In the never ending saga that is creating a cookbook, I hit a big milestone today. A couple hours ago, I emailed all 65 recipes, 60K words worth, to my editor at the publisher. Now I wait for his copious notes. BUT that means that until then, I should have time to work on more Drinking History episodes.
I'm so glad to have this, the hardest part of the process, done and out the door and I can't wait for the next chapter (pun intended). That is the photo shoot! It's scheduled for e...

I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year! I also wanted to welcome and thank all the new Patreon members.
Lastly, I wanted to ask for suggestions on what more you'd like to see as a patron of Tasting History in 2022? Wether it be early access to videos, more general updates, or anything really. I'd love to create a community here and am open to any suggestions on how to do so.
Feel free to respond here or shoot me a message here on Patreon.

Hi All!
Here are 5 more recipes that are in need of testing. The first two are definitely a little more complex.
Email me which one (please keep it to one for now) you'd like to try at tastinghistorycontact@gmail.com and I'll respond in a few days with the recipe. Hoping for feedback in about 3 weeks, so if they're a bit too daunting, I'll have some simpler ones coming.
1. Placenta (definitely not an easy recipe)
2. Vitellian Pork (Th...
