I was looking for some shop pictures from way back- actually before I even launched this biz, let alone TWB :) - and happened across this.
Longtime readers have probably seen it under the "Sketchbook" section, where it's been for ages. The story behind it is, the Thanksgiving right after I launched the comic, I picked up one of those tiny WACOM tablets, at a CompUSA Black Friday sale.
Not the kind with a monitor, the kind that's just a little pen tablet, and I think it only had like a 4" x 5" working area.
I played with it for a while, but as much fun as the pen interface was (I'd been drawing with a pen or pencil a lot longer than I'd been drawing on a computer :) - I just couldn't get used to the 'disconnect' between the pen on the table and the picture up on the monitor.
But, before I gave up, I kicked out a few scribbles that weren't too awful. This one got refined a bit, and is in the Sketchbook as "the fox chick", since Sandy hadn't been 'invented' yet. :)
There's also a pic of Doc with a lightsaber (which I had to tweak with a mouse to get the lightsaber straight) and the sketchbook header graphic was done with it, too.
Anyway, while it wasn't what I was looking for (I was looking for more pics of this) I thought I'd move a copy to one of my current art folders, and if I can get some time this week, I'll "ink" and color it. Probably keep her as a non-Sandy fox, since she predates Sandy by about a year. Maybe a silver fox?
Doc.
