Part 3 Is Up!

For the five or six of you wondering where we are on the little lathe project, I just uploaded Part 3 of the build!

Keeping in mind this is really little more than practice. I have a few things I want to make videos of, and of course I owe you lot some TWB "how it's done" videos. And prior to about three months ago, the last time I'd used any kind of an editor was on a Win95 box. :D

I have in fact learned a bunch over the last few videos, and have had a lot of fun doing it.

Let me know what'cha think. Am I getting any better? Are they getting too annoying? Not enough humor? Not rally your thing and you're just humoring me 'til I post more cheesecake? :D

From the meticulousness of your work, I'd love to go looking for some old equipment and have you rebuild it for me. But I also believe that at $0.10/hr, it would cost more than a new piece of gear. Nice work!

Do not be so self-critical, and as I see it, you do everything perfectly with the videos, I like them and I really enjoy them.

I'll offer the counterpoint that I love the vintage tool restoration videos that don't come with any commentary, just the sound of the tools on the objects. πŸ‘πŸΌ

And it also reminds me of all the jokes about guys painting cars with a brush and roller. Looks a damn sight better than a lot of my old cars. :D I've got a similar old shirt (not quite that shredded) that I wear all winter, too. :)

Damn accidental posts. Anyhow. Shows how much work goes into the cleanup and paint job without getting tedious.

I vote for great.

(RE: Maybe come wintertime) Ok, I'l be waiting :)

A lot of the "heavy breathing" is from wearing a respirator while sanding and spraying. I need to get a shotgun mic or something, so it records what's in front of the lens, not behind it. :)

I wanted to add more captions- and inject a little more humor- but the program was giving me fits, and locking up on occasion. (Which it's never done before.) I got it "good enough" and uploaded. I'm workin' on it. :)

And that's not my voice. That's the guy- a neighbor- you see helping guide the thing down. I'm off-screen working the lift. :) I actually edited that clip specifically to remove my voice. :)

In the summertime, kitty is not a shop-cat. He's a "let's go off in the woods to se if there's anything to eat" cat. Maybe come wintertime...

Doc Nickel

Throw a little background music under your audio for some aural flair. It'll also cut down the amount of heavy breathing we're getting from you, unless that's your thing, y'know?

Looks great. The few captions were nice. Helps in the us "we changed a tire once" crowd have a better understanding of what's going on.

Now with voice - a new level unlocked! Seriously, your videos are not that bad, you don't have to apologise everytime. One in two would be perfectly okay. And what Lord Chaos said - a depressing lack of surprise kitty.

Begaminoid

So shiny!

PixelThis

Too make this one of the great fix it shows you need to have an intrusive animal. Dog or cat preferably.

Lord Chaos

I'm enjoying the vids, but I also re-watch This Old Tony videos pretty regularly as well. Humorous commentary would be nice, but one step at a time. I like what you are doing, and hope to see more.
