Another Shop Video!

This is very much just a practice video- a single, simple project I could record and edit, basically just for the practice of... recording and editing. :D It's literally the first time I've ever tried piecing together more than like two or three clips.
It ain't great, but it already taught me a lot- I need better lighting, I need better tripods and camera mounting, I need to work on sound control, editing and pacing, etc. etc.
I'll never be a Clickspring or This Old Tony, but I think I'll at least be able to make a decent, watchable product.
Let me know what you think. Suggestions and ideas also welcomed.

It makes me so happy to see you mention Clickspring and ToT. I watch their stuff all the time. I'm impressed how easily you handled that titanium. I understand that it can be a real pain to machine because of how quickly it work hardens.

2021-03-31 23:01:19 +0000 UTCWhat? The *part* is titanium, the *cutting tools* are carbide and HSS. Why a titanium pin? Well, in the older days, top speed- that is, the fastest rate of fire (ROF)- was king. Reducing the reciprocating weight of the cocking assembly to make it fast as possible was the "hot trick". Plastic pins tended to wear out relatively rapidly, and stainless steel pins were considered "too heavy". Aluminum worked just fine, though, but just for the sake of the exoticness of it, several people have tried titanium. And in this case, I had the bolts with no other real use or need of them, and I needed a small, simple project to try filming and editing. TL;DR version: 'cause I could. :)

I want you to talk about not needing coolant, what it takes to work titanium, what lessons you learned, what that crazy collet is with a hex head?! I didn't know they even MADE those.
