Time is the only think you can spend and never get back.

I'm currently working my way through The Way of Integrity. She uses The Divine Comedy as an allegory for life. We wake up lost in the Woods of Error, no idea how we got there or hos to get out. When we strive up the mountain (everything society says will make us happy) and are driven back, we need to pass through the gate to hell. "Abandon hope all ye who enter here." The hope that we have to abandon is the hope that the choices we made weren't wrong. The choices that ended up making us unhappy in the first place. In Hell, we learn all the ways our thinking went wrong. We possess thoughts and ideas that did not originate with us. That's why skepticism is so important. It gives us the tools necessary to critically examine those thoughts and idea, figure out what is garbage and what is gold. When we do that, we make them our own. You have to face the Hell society and our minds have put us through. In the end, he ascends to heaven. Rather than an afterlife, think of it as fully realizing who we are and discovering our true selves. Skepticism hasn't just saved me from BS and saved me money, it is one of the things that has helped me discover more about who I am.

Start saving early for retirement. The compound growth is incredible over time. Contribute at least the minimum to a 401(k) to get any company matching. If it's 3% and you don't get it, you're passing up a 3% raise. If you own your own business, there are retirement plans for self-employed (https://www.irs.gov/retirement-plans/retirement-plans-for-self-employed-people). Don't wait. This is where passing on a coffee a day can add up provided you actually save it. When I started, my contribution was $36 a week, 26 years later, my 401(k) is fast approaching 7 figures, it grows more than I can contribute a week. Don't want to give up the latte? Give up the vaping or smoking. Cut down on things you don't need. Enjoying life comes from appreciating what you have, not falling for the social lie that you have to cram more into it.

If you can get the House and the Senate to go along with you. Today the two parties are so opposed to help the other side it's a miracle anything gets done.

The very famous socialist Richard Nixon introduced price controls. It can be done.
