SGU's Total Solar Eclipse Experience in Dallas, TX 2024

SGU's Total Solar Eclipse Experience in Dallas, TX 2024

Comments

I've been through 2 partial eclipses in the UK. In Aug 1999 (through Penzance), we were in the 85% coverage zone, you couldn't tell there was an eclipse. in 2015, we were in the 90% range, it got dim, like early evening. It was also our anniversary. I proudly, and falsely, claimed it was on purpose.

Asymetra

Why the frack are those people driving cars during the most magnificent cosmic event in their lives?!

Scott Wesley

I'm in western Australia, and I think up north it has a longer totality, and far less likely to have clouds compared to a very busy Sydney. Just more effort to get there

Scott Wesley

I've really enjoyed some of the video reactions, but this one eclipses them all so far

Scott Wesley

There's another in Spain & north Africa in 2027

Inigo Montoya

Same same. Glad clouds parted for that brief moment

I had already started blaming Bob when I saw the 10-day forecast. Everything turned out great tho! I got to see it from Broken Bow, OK.

Michael Brewer

Much better weather than I had in Kerrville. I had been anxious about the clouds ever since the 10-day forecast was for thunderstorms, which never showed up while I was there. Luckily, the clouds thinned out enough to see about a minute or so of totality, and I got one good photo and a few fair ones. Glad you guys had a good one!

Richard Moore

I was able to see totality in Paducah, KY, and it was so beautiful!!

Luree Bystrom

Glad you all saw it. And now you get it! We were in downtown Dallas. Who were those clueless people driving by during totality?

Stuart Goldman

No clouds, Bob your luck has turned finnaly!!! Thank you for sharing.

CM

Travelled from Virginia to Arkansas for totality after listening to Cara talk about it so passionately. Did not disappoint! That was one of the most beautiful/bizarre/awe-inducing god damn things I’ve ever seen, and I wouldn’t have experienced it if it wasn’t for this podcast, so thank you!!

Michael Yunik

I was ready to blame Bob for the cloud cover. Glad they passed.

Isaac Shumard

Still buzzing from this experience! I'm officially an umbraphile!!

Christian Skjelbred

This is such a great video. I’m so happy guys got to see it and it turned out to be perfect conditions too. Wish i could have been there.

Kelly Eckersley

Yay Bob! So happy for you!

Evelyn Lhea

We are in Dallas, too, and got some great drone footage looking down from 400 feet. Let me know if the SGU is interest.

kouhoutek

Northeastern Ohio started off with rain and complete cloud cover in the morning - and it all magically went away around 2PM. It was 70 and absolutely clear skies and the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

Tim Boyer

Yay! Good for you Bob!

Brandon Cure

the next solar eclipse is in 2026 from Spain to Iceland, and believe me we have marked both that AND australia/new zealand. So stay tuned

The Skeptics' Guide To The Universe

Next one is in my neck of the woods. Australia 2028. Already planning.

Clive Ruddick

We were at our hotel just outside of DFW. The clouds were a little thicker but we caught totality in a gap. Truly a lifetime memory and worth the trip!

James Bladel

Yay Bob! Was clear in Burlington VT and we were think of you all!

Jody Lesko

So happy for you Bob!

Joe vandenEnden

Awww, thanks for sharing! This made me tear up (it was cloudy in Minneapolis).

RegRealness

I was at a micro brewery in the south of Quebec. we had a little over 3min of totality and they had Adirondack chairs. I don't like them normally, but their angle was perfect to sit and stare a the sun with my quality solar class and binoculars (with filters). no neck strain at all! it was such a great experience.
