This Weeks Patron Content - AI and Medicine

Hey Guys, This week Steve talks about how Artificial Intelligence could help doctors do their jobs faster and better.

Let me know if there are any topics you would like us to cover!

This Weeks Patron Content - AI and Medicine

Great topic. There will be some tremendous limitations to making this work well. There is so much garbage data in current EMR systems - the cut and paste, note bloat, and templated physical exams that document findings that are not really there will present AI with an enormous false data problem. Medical histories often contain diagnoses that never existed, and purging them from an electronic record is nigh impossible once they infect a chart. Lab values and imaging findings are probably the most valid data points to reckon with. A great mission for AI in initial phases would be to ferret out and redact all the erroneous findings!

I would love to see basically graphical UI replaced (not entirely) by AI in medical fields (and any field that requires administration). Imagine, instead of having to poke around and find where to input what in a journal - you have the AI listen in on your conversation with the patient as an assistant, taking notes, inserting information in the correct places etc. In the end - maybe we don't ever have to engage with graphical interfaces, and the AI will be our interface instead. :D

Topic to cover, especially for Neurologist Dr Steve - tell us about all the autism treatments and "cures". Most of them are alt-med scams and pseudoscience nonsense. Some are even downright dangerous (drinking bleach, c'mon!), but tell us which ones are sound, which have any merit, and which promising ones deserve more research investment?
