An SGU Conference!

Hey everyone,

For several years I have been getting feedback from patrons saying they want an in-person conference. I also have been hearing that you want more time to socialize.

Due to increasingly high costs we realized that an in-person conference like NECSS would be way too expensive. A lot of the costs come from airfare and hotel for speakers and crew.

What if we came up with a completely different conference format? NotACon-Con is all about socializing! We will have a very limited group of people providing entertainment. Throughout each day there will be activities that mostly revolve around socializing. Then we will take breaks so attendees can mingle and enjoy each others company.

The hotel and surrounding area has a ton of places to eat and we will give you plenty of time.

If you are interested, click this link and let us know. https://www.theskepticsguide.org/not-a-conference-conference

On April 30th if 150 people or more indicated they are definitely going we will make this conference happen. If you want it, here is your opportunity to engage with other like minded critical thinkers in person. Please respond ASAP so we can book the hotel.

Hopefully we can all see each other this year!

Starts the day after my birthday, I know what I’m getting this year!

I think the idea is great, but why did you pick a date so close to CSICON? And on the other side of the country? Having this event so close to the already scheduled big skeptic event will hurt attendance at both of them - for the reasons you mentioned.

Gail Knapp

Wait, NOVEMBER is too short notice?

Nosey Nick

Too short notice, but I love this idea.

Sad thing about all this talk of conferences is that I can't attend as the furthest I can go is Mainland Australia, Even if I have a good year or two of saving would the US let me enter with my analgesia requirements. Also there is the huge risk of spreading Australianism among you all. Symptoms include telling tall tales about local wildlife being lethal and attacking from trees like the infamous drop bear story which has replaced the real risk of the far more deadly drop platypus that has it's own venomous spur to deal with and was only scared off by thylacine furs.

Tim Smith

You already know we will be there!

Ed Ondrick

Aw, man, sounds like a blast. I can't leave my dogs for that long, though! Hope it works out and you have a great time!

Mad Brad, Virginia's ONLY skeptic

This is dope.

Hmm, I can't tell if my form actually submitted and I don't want to double-submit. (I wanna goooo! haha. :) )
