We talk about it on the show again - next week's episode. Just looking at the numbers - most of the carbon footprint can be dealt with by changes in industry - energy sector, transportation secor, and then as the technologies develops other industries. Most of the gain by changing personal carbon footprint can be accomplished through win-wins - things that save us money or are better choices anyway. Win-wins are not wishful thinkings.

So is your plan to kill 6 billion people? If not, what is your plan, and how does this affect global warming by 2050?

I have studied alternative energy and climate change since Jimmy Carter was President, and my unescapable conclusion is that the first thing we should do is have a carbon tax that raises the price of gas at least a dollar per gallon - and all the money collected is evenly distributed among all adult residents with monthly checks - citizen or not. (Everyone who lives here would pay the tax.) The tax would be collected at the point of origin (out of the ground or from a foreign tanker), and would result in higher prices, which is why it is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL, not just a good idea, to return the collected money as I described.
This would be a good thing for poor people, who almost always use less carbon than average, and therefore would usually get more money back than they are paying out.

We also need to lower our population to below 2 billion. Any more than that is way too much. 7 billion is utterly, totally INSANE!

The book "The God Impulse" covers a lot about NDEs and the natural processes that create every aspect of the "I went to heaven" NDE experience. It's as non-critical an examination as I have ever read about anything, but his agenda is much different than setting out to prove the afterlife. The "heaven" experience is culturally-based.

Cara‘s right, people have to reduce consumtion, that‘s for most a sacrifice. Focusing only on winwins is rife with wishful thinking. It‘s going to take both strategies.
