BIP - October
Added 2024-10-31 02:00:04 +0000 UTCHello, everyone, and Happy Halloween to those of you who enjoy spookiness and candy!
The public demo just came out a little while ago, of course, so I haven't made it all that far into Chapter Three yet, but there are 16,000 words of new material, including the complete first (optional) scene with Demeter, and a partially complete (optional) scene with Iasion for those of you who are seeing him without Demeter's company. Right now, most of what's done on his scene is a variation on the first one, which will only show up for people who didn't have that first meeting, so don't be alarmed if you choose to go see him and not much is there.
Also, for those of you with gardens, take note that if you choose to show yours to Demeter, the scene will not yet be customized to your actual garden state or what is planted in it; I've created a "default" situation for now, until save importing becomes possible. So chances are things will be a little off for your specific continuity; rest assured that all the other variations have been written in and will be there when the game is published.
To be honest, the response to the first public demo was... pretty underwhelming, especially considering that I think some pretty big things happened in it. But, that's the way it goes sometimes; perhaps the family subplot isn't something that interests everyone, and that's of course fine. I'll keep plugging away anyhow; I know there are a lot of people who don't tend to speak up even when they enjoy something, and I definitely get that. I tend to be that way, too.
So to all the silent enjoyers, and the more conversational among you who have been supporting me here the whole time, this one's for you. :)

Yeah, at first I thought it was a game code issue so I reported it here, but I'll see as to report it to them too.

2024-11-08 11:25:05 +0000 UTCMoody/cogdemos just did a big site migration, which I suspect is the source of all this. You may want to report that to them, if you feel up to it. Otherwise, I think next month I'll give a dashingdon demo option, if things haven't seemed to stabilise. I had to find a workaround for a problem where my links weren't even working last night, so I definitely sympathise.

2024-11-08 02:16:23 +0000 UTCOkay, so, I'm having the weirdest problem. When restarting from scratch, I can indeed access chapter 2. But if at any point I open the stats screen, I'm starting to have problems. For example, if I open the stats screen then I can't save anymore. If close the window and open the game again after having opened the stat screen, it actually remembers where I was, but then I get that issue where there's that bug at the end of chapter 1 preventing me from proceeding. So it's basically very confusing and doesn't make sense. But oh well, I'll just avoid opening the stats for now I guess. I'll be back later for proper feedback about the new content!

2024-11-07 19:00:40 +0000 UTCThat's very strange. I know moody was updated or migrated recently, so maybe that interrupted you? I just tried and it carries on to Chapter Two just fine. Could you try one more time and let me know if you're still having trouble?

2024-11-07 03:56:57 +0000 UTCHey, I just started reading this update, but when reaching the end of Hades's scene in chapter 1, it leads me to the end of the demo after saying "See you soon, Hades". I don't have access to chapter 2 or anything onwards.

2024-11-06 22:39:10 +0000 UTCThank you! I sincerely appreciate the encouragement. Honestly, I can hardly wait to get the updates to all of you, either.

2024-11-01 03:05:19 +0000 UTCI'm really glad those interactions with Demeter hit well; there are definitely lots of variations based on all that stuff but I really had fun writing them, so it *should* feel relatively different between playthroughs, I think.

2024-11-01 03:04:34 +0000 UTCThank you so much; I really do appreciate it. I've been really delighted to be able to get to the sequel right after the first game. It basically feels like I'm still working on the same project, honestly. :)

2024-11-01 03:03:02 +0000 UTCTotally understandable; as someone who lived in the US until about two years ago, I will also be watching it anxiously. Hopefully the demo works okay as a distraction!

2024-11-01 03:01:49 +0000 UTCI loved the first few chapters! I've been obsessed with your work ever since discovering FoA this autumn, and I've been so happy that you're working on the sequel! I can't wait for the updates ❤️

2024-10-31 19:57:29 +0000 UTCaaa i am SO excited for this update; I super loved getting the chance to reconnect with Demeter and I think you handled that SO well. as my main PC is someone who loved their mother but felt just really betrayed and frustrated by how she was treating them, the awkward but heartfelt conversations were just so-- utterly chef's kiss. being able to explain the concept of being overstimulated and having Demeter try to sympathize was so wonderful. as someone recently diagnosed, I've also been going through the awkward but necessary conversations of trying to explain that my perception of the world is so very different from my mother's, and how what she takes for granted or as insignificant can be so challenging and crippling to me. and you really just fucking nailed it in the best, most wonderful way. and then asking if we reminded her at all of our father, and the response there was so sweet. I haven't replayed yet with other PCs but I'm assuming and expecting that answer will change depending on our character's conversation styles, and I'm very excited to see all the traits we got from dad.

2024-10-31 19:44:17 +0000 UTCI’m usually more of a silent reader and cheerleader, but upon creating my own writing have learned that even the most subtle of words of encouragement and acknowledgement go a long way. Thus, I just want to let you know that FoA is a genuine favorite of mine that I’ve replayed idk how many times now and upon learning that you were already in the process of creating a sequel so soon filled me with so much joy and I cannot wait to see more of the process and delve deeper into this magnificent world you have created. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us! 🫶🏻

2024-10-31 17:33:07 +0000 UTCI’m very excited for the BIP; I’ve been saving it as a way to distract myself on Tuesday (US Election Day)

2024-10-31 16:15:03 +0000 UTCI try to forget my notes are there, honestly. I'm sure they're horribly nonsensical, incoherent and riddled with typos... as is my thought process, really. :) I'm glad they're fun to read, though.
Jess
2024-10-31 13:00:23 +0000 UTCI loved seeing your notes at the current end! It's always fun when authors include those, like seeing a little glimpse into the writing process. I'm really enjoying the visit with Demeter too and how she does actually seem to be trying to learn and grow!

2024-10-31 12:35:21 +0000 UTCI'm sorry to hear it's been a tough one (and I can certainly sympathize). I hope the read turns out to be a little spot of pleasantness nonetheless.

2024-10-31 02:48:30 +0000 UTCThe timeline is definitely a very, uh, loose sort of thing (as for example, mythological events might be happening that were meant to be about a generation before that), but hopefully everything is self-contained enough that it's not a big deal. I really appreciate the comment, and thanks for the support. :)
Jess
2024-10-31 02:47:35 +0000 UTCI loved the first few scenes, personally. Getting to choose a throne, having the trial, learning that the timeline is somewhere during the Iliad, all of it was terrific. I don't comment or reply to much stuff since I am subscribed to a lot of patreons but I love your work

2024-10-31 02:28:06 +0000 UTCI know for me, this has been a rough month and I was waiting to play it until I had plenty of quiet time alone to savor it! I’m working on Chapter 2 as we speak and already SO EXCITED
