This update gonna be a bit of a bummer, but I figured it would be best to mention it asap. I'm gonna try just taking commissions for the next month (July). I'm still going to finish up the comics I'm due for this month, and then put a little pause on next month.

Oh it's another kobold DnD Character

I dunno why our DnD group is struggling to have a consistently going campaign but here's my new Kobold warlock lady, who's only here to make all land available kobold territory. DM's doing an adaption of the Kingmaker campaign from uhh, that other rpg system. I can't remember what it was. 

BUT ANYWAYS! She's a nasty little one who got a lot of blood-powers? So hopefully this campaign will last a while, because Toddle might be fun to make a little choas with.

Snem, kobold monk! (Commission)

Had a client reach out to get a commission for one of their DnD party members, this good good chaos kobold monk, Snem. Partially inspired by my previous sticker design of Sigri (blessing all the things), but certainly a bit beefy, and loud!

After reading through their summary of a kobold who doesn't hide from battle, covered in scars and burns, and wears a kobold skull over their face, HOW COULD I NOT?

A month or so ago I had thought, "I should buy a sketchbook with tear out pages so I can sketch out ideas/poses that are stuck in my head, and just sell some at cons". Well, I kind of just ended up doing sketches on bristol paper and inking/coloring them whenever I need something to warm-up with.

Smolder Scrolls 3: Pages 43 & 44

Oof, okay, they're done! A few little goofy things to close off another issue of Smolder Scrolls. Jokes about romance novels, jokes about story structure or the tendency of stories to escalate over tellings, jokes about euphemisms. I'm chock full of jokes when I'm not drawing asssssssssssssss.

Drawing out (and inevitably having to ink and color) that breakfast spread oof. But yeah, bunch of expressions all over these pages! A good bit of banter to finish the story off with.

Empress of Thieves 4: pages 20 & 21

Okay! There we go! Ended up only making one little slight change between last night and today, but I felt that time helps me feel a little more confident about the pages. 

And even though the inks are kinda light, a lot of the texture of the water fills out the space and the pages. The next set of pages I'll get to do some more pretty background/architecture stuff, so that'll be a bit more visually stimulating.

Empress of Thieves 4: pencils pages 20 & 21

I hope I didn't wash out too much of the contrast levels on these that they're still readable. I didn't save them in a state where I could edit it easily without kinda starting over, but I think it should be legible.

Also, yeah, some very easy pages to draw. Inks could take longer of course, since I decided to put some embellishments into the bridge's side. Oh well. The coloring will still take a while, with the water and whatnot.

Bound for Glory 5 sketches and pencils

Did ya know that I'm in the next Bound for Glory zine, coming out later this year?

I wanted to do some more print-y art pieces for this year's submissions, and decided to indulge in one for my own fursona (there's my butt oop). Even though I lost my reference picture for the first piece, I think it still turned out well. I had to tape down some string to my desk so I could the upwards perspective to look right! And all the plants with their details oof.

Empress of Thieves 4: Pages 18 & 19

Well, it's the 21st of month and it took like 2 weeks to get these pages done oop. Empress does that to me, and now I gotta try working on projects with deadlines COMIN' UP REALLY SOON oop. The next couple sets of pages for this comic are a bit more chill on background details though, so hopefully I'll be able to do some more side stuffs in the next few months.

Our plans with friends got cancelled, I had figured our little art nights would have been an okay time to bring a different (easier to travel with) project with and post before starting it. Smolder Scrolls 3: pencils pages 41 & 42

There's a hand and maybe a head that aren't the right size on page 42 but I'll fix it! Had to reconfigure pg. 41 panel 1 there because I changed a panel on previous page, and then this one was kind of "out of sequence".  Dar'Miran was straddling J'Drassa earlier, but then had to have him moving over to fix it in this page. Not sure if it's the best panel I've drawn, but hopefully it works. I'm sure the good kissy panels will make up for it.

Smolder Scrolls 4: character concepts & design

Don't quite have a ref sheet finished up with Dhezz (the lizardfolk fella here), but I think I have his shape pretty much figured out. LOTS of sketching for these two, I even had a version of Nilyrr (the gnoll/hyena gal) that I liked as a look, but not quite right for her as a character (see the sketch with "lil' snoot" noted). Goodness gracious. These took awhile to do, what with the multiple characters, colors, uniforms, and backgrounds and not that I've been playing some Pokemon, no siree! I'm quite satisfied with them though, even gave myself a few hours after I thought they might be done to come back to them. Naturally I found a few things, and one detail I almost forgot!

OOF. More scenery, eh? Obvious tip, just find photo reference. Friggin' pull details out of there instead trying to come up with literally everything from your own butt. Of course, keep the details relevant to the setting. but goodness, I've known professionals that trace backgrounds from photos AND THEY'RE RIGHT TO DO SO.

AH AH AH

I had such a weird blend of "ink brush is working wonderfully~" and "this is ink brush has turned against me" while inking these pages. Bunch of double lines, messy ends, and bit of speckling that I had to clean up. Clean up can be time consuming but I'm not about to let my himbo and subby catfolk look messy. >:3c

But hey, I think they came out nicely. I had moment were the difference between panel 2 and 3 (of pg. 40) felt too jarring, so I ended up fading a little bit...

Empress of Thieves 4: Pages 14 &15

Thank you every for your patience with me this month. To sum quickly: dayjob has been scheduling me 5 to 6 days a week, with most of those days being 9 to 12, occasionally 12 hours a day. IT SHOULD be getting better next month, but ugh, I feel like I've heard that before. But on to these pages!

You might be able to notice some of the changes since the pencils. Primarily I just moved or resized some of the panels to make them read better or a little more intensely. I hope this museum/gal...

There's a few things I may have to fix in here but wow did these pages seem to turn out a little extra---

Feelin' kind of good about them. Are the action panels actiony enough? I hope! It's a little hard for me to see my work as freshly as other folks do. But maybe it pops visually at least!

Thank y'all for your patience this month. I might have made it through the worst of the dayjob season, but there's also the actual winter weather coming, so we'll how I fair in that haha.

Of course Khever is gonna abandon Yakone! The lil' gremlin. Tried to kick up the movement in the second page, because it's time! Time for a nice lil' handful of action montage I suppose.

Trying to remember if there was certain panels I planned to have J'drassa blushing for, but all of them is also good. Also visual cues for "the spell has ended" and I hope they're clear enough.

Smolder Scrolls 3: pencils pages 35 & 36

Dayjob ran pretty late today, so here is my post dinner, post about thirty some odd minutes of catching my breath a lil, and editing scans together- post. If I've not said it yet, December and probably a good chunk of January are just gonna be hell at the ol' dayjob, but I'll endeavor to have comics pages done (if nothing else) still.

A nice set of pages though, no? Some nice nudeys.

Here's two little ideas I've had for new stickers recently! They've been nice to kinda flesh out on nights when we've been visited friends and artsing. Easy to travel and focus on when it's a little more simple, right?

Wild to be done with these. Such detail, and we're still in this room for another page or so hahaha
but after that it'll be some nice fun exterior shots, with probably a lot of detail. But not this particular room which is good. I'm getting a bit tired with it, so a change of pace is dearly needed.
