Regarding the Alzheimer's infusion: why would you expect the dementia to improve with a treatment that destroys ameloid beta plaque? Isn't the damage done by that point? I would expect the treatment would just stop further damage. Can Dr. Novella explain why improvement would be expected? My family is watching this awful disease take away the matriarch of our family. It's probably too late for her, but we're all facing this disease that has taken 3 generations of women in our family.

In forestry we use the term ‘inosculation’ for the phenomenon of tree trunks or branches that fuse together after long periods of touching. Thanks for explaining the root word means ‘kissing’, which is an apt description when you see trees doing this!
