Poll - Diminishment
Added 2025-02-14 20:36:51 +0000 UTCHey!
I've been hesitating on this matter ever since I came back from my break, and before I make any decisions one way or the other, I'd like to hear everyone's opinion.
My main question is: Do you prefer content that is similar to Diminishment (my animated visual novel game), or video content (5 minute+ long videos, similar to Devil's cookie, Butt Snack, etc.)
From a personal viewpoint, I see going back to Diminishment as a slight downgrade footage wise, due to lipsync, animating acting to match voice acting, etc. not being really feasible due to the nature of the project. While at the same time it's more work, due to everything needing to loop and seamlessly transition from clip to clip. So footage wise I feel like I'm creating "lesser" content, while it requires more work. And of course, time spent troubleshooting user issues, and building the game portion, and much more writing.
On the other hand I do personally find games like this more immersive than just videos. The whole, I feel, makes it at least equal, if not better overall enjoyment wise. But since most of the work is on creating the footage, it's a tad annoying from my own perspective as an artist.
What is your opinion on the matter? Do you feel I should continue Diminishment as is, or switch to purely making video content? Of course, this doesn't mean there wouldn't be videos featuring what I have planned for Diminishment, the scenarios would just be told in a different format.
Regardless of poll results, the scenario will remain roughly the same, and will feature Lucy and Jane. The poll will run until the end of the month.
The poll will be open for all paying patrons/subscribers, regardless of tier, since I want as wide of a scope on opinions as possible.
On another note: Playblast will likely come out before Wednesday, but I'm slightly behind schedule, so just a heads up, that it's probably not coming out on Sunday.
Let me know what you think!
That's all for now!

lets not forget that super cuts of the game are usually made as well: which is the game as a video

2025-02-16 14:39:57 +0000 UTCI think both are great, but with the game you are making something entirely unique that no one else is creating. I feel like that alone makes it worth considering, maybe you could slow progress on it and keep it on the backburner, but giving it up entirely would be a shame. At the end of the day though, you are the artist, so whatever you think is best!

2025-02-15 19:13:56 +0000 UTCTechnically a video is made every time a diminishment chapter is released. So with the game your getting the best of both worlds. The games are by far what sets the work apart, but your the creator and I respect whatever you choose

2025-02-15 18:33:58 +0000 UTCThanks for all the feedback everyone! It does seem the majority prefer the video content side of things, but a sizeable amount of people enjoy Diminishment quite a bit, and many prefer it! I'm leaning towards doing a sort of mix of both, that kinds of satisfies my personal gripes on the matter, while not abandoning the game. Basically, have voiced dialogue/lipsync in the transition bits, and then have only moans and such, with maybe toggleable voiced lines during the looping bits. I do realize that If I were to go full video, it would be very hard to convey various background info for the setting, unless I provide some sort of walls of text before videos and such, so I'd be sad to lose that portion as well. So basically a sort of middle ground, where I still do a video, but one that also works for the game might work pretty nicely.

2025-02-15 15:40:16 +0000 UTCI vastly prefer the medium of games, over video. Having a bit of player agency, and the context of the larger narrative, very much outweigh an increase in animation quality, for me.

2025-02-15 10:15:33 +0000 UTCThe game was interesting and novel, but I was really impressed by the videos and would love to see more. Especially unbirth type scenarios.

2025-02-15 07:43:31 +0000 UTCI think the game is unique and interactive but I'm honestly fine with the video content alone granted the quality is superb. +buttcrsh +thighs --futa :(((

2025-02-15 07:32:11 +0000 UTCThe dynamics and immersion of the game overall definitely gave a monumentally different feel than other content. It's honestly what set's your work apart from most of the other 3d artist out there. The games unique, but if doing more video content while still telling the story of Diminishment falls in your favor as an artist... I can't say I'd dislike it as an consistent enjoyer of your content. If only certain section's are active gaming portions, while other dead ends of the story are video's or something, then that would be good too.

2025-02-15 01:29:53 +0000 UTCI think I lean towards the game for the extra dialogue, different pathways, and interactivity plus I really like the POV.

2025-02-15 01:29:26 +0000 UTCThe videos are all great but I also enjoy the variety the diminishment has to offer as well…regardless you have great content either way 😎

2025-02-14 23:17:55 +0000 UTCI absolutely prefer Diminishment for the 'immersion factor' of it. That being said... I recognize the amount of work a game like it requires. So my vote is whichever gives you the freedom to prevent burnout. Love your stuff.

2025-02-14 21:28:19 +0000 UTCI've played or watched diminishment more than I watched devils cookie. Both are nice. I'd say focus on diminshnent for this project and the next, a longer animation like devils cookie.
Yure!
2025-02-14 21:12:39 +0000 UTCI think an additional factor about Diminishment content is the writing is sometimes more evocative than just the videos, and I don't mean the dialogue. Some things from a VN don't translate to raw video.

2025-02-14 21:07:46 +0000 UTCI think both are great. Diminishment because there truly are not enough size games out there and yours just has an insane quality and the videos because they feel more relaxing. Diminishment with its gameplay can be stressful from time to time (at least from what I remember - I absolutely need to play the current version though) so a video feels more relaxing from time to time. So, like I said, overall I don't have a strong preference since all the stuff you do is awesome. ^^

2025-02-14 21:06:55 +0000 UTCI feel the break in between the two gives a bit of time to experiment with different ideas. Longform videos do tend to be what I enjoy the most, like Devil’s Cookie, but there are several bits of Diminishment that have been enjoyable.

2025-02-14 21:00:19 +0000 UTCThe interactivity of Diminishment outweighs any flaws as far as I'm concerned. Regular videos just don't compare lol.

2025-02-14 20:46:29 +0000 UTCHonestly, I like the medium of the game, but as you said, every other scene has to be a loop. Maybe videos are the way to go, to allow smoother storytelling, at the cost of interaction? Maybe with alt-route videos, like with Devil's Cookie?

2025-02-14 20:42:54 +0000 UTCI love both of them, atleast havinga full game or finish all that you have now and mabe later down the road continue it, but i do love the immersion the game has, id also love it in VR but thats probably not really feasible and so would love more videos to be in VR, if i had to choose, id say videos with some VR videos My favorite videos ever were the 2 vids you made But i love both and no matter what i want you to keep doing your fantastic videos, please keep up the good work! I love all of it!
