Hey everyone!
Let’s take a moment to revisit how we care for our Shamisen after practice.

When you open your Shamisen case, is everything neatly stored?
Are Itomaki (tuning peg) poking out of the Nagabukuro (fabric bag), or are there marks from sweaty hands after practice?

After each session, be sure to wipe down Sao (neck) and strings with a cloth to remove any moisture or fingerprints. Humidity is the enemy of Tsugaru Shamisen, so try to keep your case as dry as possible. A clean, shiny Shamisen makes daily practice feel even more rewarding!

Once you have wiped it down, gently store your instrument in the Nagabukuro.
If you do not use one, especially if you keep Bachi, Koma (bridge), or other small accessories in your case, we highly recommend it! The Nagabukuro helps protect the wood from scratches or bumps caused by other items in the case.
Think of it like dressing your Shamisen in a Kimono—with care and respect.

Here’s a tip for storing it neatly: after placing Dou (body) inside, give the bag a little twist so you can tuck Tenjin (head) into the corner at the top.
And if your case has an inner tie, don’t forget to secure the neck before closing it!

When we are focused on improving, it is easy to get caught up in playing and forget about how we handle our instrument. But caring for your Shamisen is also part of the journey.

At the end of each practice, take a moment to say “thank you” to your instrument—and put it away with love.

今日は津軽三味線の自分の仕舞い方を見直してみましょう。

あなたの三味線ケースを開けた時、綺麗に楽器が仕舞われていますか？
長袋から糸巻きが飛び出ていたり、練習後の手の汗の跡がついたりしていませんか？
三味線の練習が終わったらまずは必ず毎回棹ふきで綺麗に汗や指の拭き取りをしましょう。
湿気は津軽三味線の天敵なのでケースの中に湿気がなるべく残らないようにします。
三味線がピカピカだと日々の練習もとても気持ちが良くなりますよ。

楽器をしっかり拭いたらそのあとは綺麗に長袋に仕舞います。長袋に入れていない人もいるかもしれませんが、特に撥や駒などケースに小物を入れている人は、ケースの中で小物たちが三味線にぶつからないようにすることをおすすめします！長袋に入れておくことで三味線の木が物に当たり傷つけることも予防できますよ。長袋へは三味線に着物を着せるように丁寧に仕舞ってあげましょう。綺麗に収めるコツとしては胴を入れた後、袋をひねって天神を袋上部の角に納めることです。

長ケースの内側に紐がついている場合はケースを閉じる前に棹がちゃんと紐で止められているかも確認しましょう！

日々練習に力が入っているとつい演奏に夢中になって楽器の扱いが疎かになってしまう人が目立ちます！

練習が終わったら「ありがとう」の気持ちを込めて綺麗に楽器をしまってあげてくださいね！
