A(I) new era of art thieves

Hello dear Patrons! 😎

I am pissed! I just discovered that this guy (elygordan) steals other artists work, reprocess it with AI (img2img), and has the balls to put his own signature on top. That's what I call a shameless thief! I spotted him thanks to DA protect (which is an automated image recognition system that detects similar artworks and copies). I can't believe this guy has the guts to do that, calling himself an artist, and even create a patreon and propose commissions to make money from stolen artwork, what a piece of shit! 😡

We have entered a new era of art theft and modification, one of the sad consequences of AI with people without misgivings and principles.

I'm not gonna put my finger on all the things that are wrong on earth and the bad people, but I just needed to get this information out of my chest!

Love you all 💖

Edit: His account appears to have been deactivated, and my DMCA requests have  been positively answered, that's a victory! Thank you all for your support 💖

I think it's already out of hands and it's too late to regulate anything now. Now it's just up to individuals and their personal morale to act in a respectful way (sadly many don't know what that is). And also watermarks and metadata is the only thing to protect an image but easily erased with AI processes

Yeah I tried to report that user but aside from filling a DMCA report (which is a joke and probably won't lead anywhere) there's nothing to do except publicly shaming this person. I think we have to accept the use of AI (I even started to implement it in my workflow in a controlled manner) but sadly, some profit of this tool to do this kind of shameless reprocess.

AI usage have to be regulated, problem is it's still new and there's still nothing to regulate it efficiently and because it's new and by that sort of unknown it pose a perfect solution for thiefs/parasytes. In decade old game called Spore have each creation text which tells who's the original author, is there any way to let others automatically know the thief's work is just a duplicate ?

Wow just no respect there.

it looks terrible to top things off. AI swine feel entitled to make money off of anything they think they can get away with, no principles or concept of hard work, just get rich quick by typing prompts and farming 'data' to feed models. absolute shitlords.

I reported another blatant AI knockoff, couldn't figure out a way to report the user, unfortunately. I generally support the use of AI but this is terrible. It's pretty sad, too, I liked a lot of the art on his page, I'd like to know what artists he stole them from.
